I see that a pure 1 is semi synthetic and so is the mobil1. Other than flow and someone says one or the other filters better--------------What does the extra 5 bucks buy me with the mobil1 filter. Been using pure1 with no probs forever. Why would I change. And I don't think the Mobil1 has that much filter capacity diff. Just wondering what you guys thought. I will change if it is the best.

It says Mobil 1 on the side, so it must be better, right?

IMO, Mobil 1 Filters are for those that want to have "the best", which as everyone knows is Mobil 1 oil and a Mobil 1 filter.

Mobil1 has started using Group III fiber in their filters.

So no, I won't use it.

General claims by a brand may have little to do with what is actually in a specific filter p/n. Even that is subject to change.

In my study on FL-820S replacements my conclusion was:

M1 210
Probably good flow rate and load-up characteristics using the synthetic-blend media. Absolute filtration may be slightly better than PureONE* and have better flow but at what a price ! I have read some issues about inconsistent pleat spacing and think I could see it on the one I have. If I was doing 7-10K mile OCI then I would feel better using synthetic media.

*They appear to be made by Champion Labs and claim 99.2% under SAE J1858 Multi-Pass Efficiency Test (microns?).

My conclusion: Consider your application but generally PureONE seems more cost effective; almost same filtration at ~50% of price (at least for this p/n class).
