PU & varnish

I have read a few posts here stating that PU will to some extent clean off varnish from engines. That is not an easy task and few if any oil additives do a decent job there. I guess I am asking is it kind of an accepted fact that PU will indeed clean off varnish, more so than say PP?

I have personally seen it clean varnish off of a dipstick that MMO and a rag would not take off. So I am a believer.

Probably not and some confuse varnish with stained aluminum parts. But if PU will remove it, and I can afford the extra few dollars for a 5 QT jug, then why not.
