Projects...

I used to play with scouts. Never ran across one with the diesel,I did know about them though. My 68,800 originally had a 266 ihc V8,t18 4 speed and 3.73 gears with a power lock on the rear.

The 266 broke a piston and since the internet had not been invented yet I could not get a piston. So I pulled a 345 from a 1975 scout and stuck that in it.

Straight bolt In! That 345 made the little 800 a very zippy scout. Especially with BB Chevy valve springs and a 500 cfm Holley 2bbl.

Later on I got a 1973,1210 4x4 pickup with a t19 and 430 gears with a tired 392. I put a rebuilt 392 in it that didn't last so I pulled another from picapart and built that myself.

Imo the 345 ran better than the 392.

The scout got scrapped but that 345 lives on in a friend's scout. The pickup went to Montana and last I heard is still being driven.

Usually when I run into a head crack issue I send it out, no matter if gas or diesel. I had a link but they dont do Nissan diesel heads, I would thing there are a few shops that do this kind of work.
I found a service manual for that engine with a revision if you need it.

I found a outfit willing to weld it, They want $1,500.
