Well, I think I am ready for the state inspection on Friday. I need to finish the trunk bulb seal and the trunk hinges, but that is not important for inspection. Glad it's done, so is my wife! lol

The body has not been finished. It will need sanded and prepped. I’m going to try and do it all. I’m going for a black out look so having the black fiberglass and gel coat should help.

As far as an engine the car was ordered for a 302W. There are headers and parts for that. The simple answer seems to be a 347 stroker. The frame will accept a 351W so a 427 stroker is not out of the question. I want to start assembling and will probably decide. Whatever it ends up being the plan is to use the Holley Snipper FI unit on E85.

A friend built one with a small block Ford. He noted most of the racers back in the day had 289s. While the 427 is a beast, I like your idea to stroke the 302 for a good-handling and still plenty quick Cobra : )

It's a stroked 351W. Took the neigbor for a ride after I had it in the driveway idling. He wandered over and was like "who just builds a car...??" lol, this guys does! I have had fun, frustration and learned a lot. What a blast it has been!

Thanks man! I seldom pay to have anything done. I try hard to figure things out on my own, with the help of this forum and the internet. It saves me a ton of money and also builds my knowledge. Having a little bit of mechanical aptitude helps as well. lol

Has it made any black marks on the streets yet? I know I'd be behind bars if owned that car.

I really thought that was a 427. I was way behind on this excellent thread.

It is a 427 Pablo, hence the valve covers. Unfortunaltely it is not an original 427 or 428 FE engine. The big blocks are hard to find these days and very expensive to build. Not that this one was cheap, lol!

FWIW, Smeding Performance takes their own cast block that is a 351W and strokes it to 427. It kicks out a whooping ~500hp and ~540lb-ft of torque. The car weighs ~2300lbs. It runs on 93 octane pump gas and is 10.5:1 compression.

And yes, it does leave black streaks on the street! Look at my video of the first drive... I suspect there might be some on the seats if I am not careful!!!!

OK NOW I follow. DUH. Hilarious speed non-reading and stupid assumptions on me. I thought I did read 351W. Then I see the valve covers and then read 351 again and the hilarious part: I assumed some kind of mock up valve covers because kit car. I am still thinking TnT_M would never do that. What the heck?? hhahahahha

Cul de sac sounds like drift track if you say it fast enough.
