Problem with K&N PS-1010 filter

I bought three K&N PS-1010 filters on sale at Amazon awhile back for $3.44 each. Went to use one today on my 2020 Acura TLX and it would not thread after several careful attempts. I've been doing DIY oil changes for 57 years and never had this occur before. I installed a Premium Guard PG4612 instead, which went on easily. The starter groove or thread on the K&N filter doesn't look like it was cut right. I believe it was Champion Lab made. I emailed K&N. Waiting to hear back.

Since these are identical the the Champ XL , looks like who ever is running the tooling setup is probably using wrong tapping dies. Try screwing that on a Toyota since M20 and 3/4" threads are very similar to size. There should be an "AA" stamping if its actually a 3/4-16 thread on that filter.

This has been going on for a while in another thread posted months ago.

My three PS-1010 filters have either a Y2 or a Y3 stamped on the base plate. No sign of AA.

UPDATE: K&N customer service asked for a copy of my purchase receipt and photos of the suspect filter. I sent that, they sent me a pre-paid FedEx label to return the three filters and they're sending me five HP-1008 filters as free replacements. It's the short version with the removal nut, but that doesn't bother me. I'll likely use them for two 5,000 mile oil change intervals. I'm satisfied that K&N stood behind its product.

It took a little while, but K&N customer service followed through by replacing my three suspect PS-1010 filters with five HP-1008 filters. Yes, these are the smaller version for many Asian makes, but K&N has consolidated those applications into one filter size, the 1008 series. Mine are fresh, June 2024, made in USA with the ecore design by Champion Labs. It's not my favorite, but it doesn't concern me either.

That Motor is same as Run in Honda Accord I Believe 2.0 Liter - Turbo ?

I Run High Flow K&N's Race Filter HP-1010 - that's White & has Wrench Nut on End to get - Nice Long Box End Wrench on it ..
Flow must at least be 10 PSI more as I'm feeling Difference as I tried BOSS SYN Filter Good for I Believe 15K
I Never Go that Far more like 7K but within 1000 Miles , I swamped it out to K&N Race HP-1010 and YES Quieter & Smoother
Mpg Actually Picks Up , as on these Motors any Little Drag is Noticed . . ( I did Not Change Oil ) just Filter Swamp Out . .
