Priority Mail Big Increase

Well we got soaked a few months before Christmas with that temporary increase they have been doing for a few years...

However this time they didn't rescind it afterwards.

Now they are seeking a 8% across the board increase supposedly due to the increase in fuel costs due to the current situation. Lovely huh ?

Nobody seems to notice but my shipping costs have about doubled from a year ago ... both UPS and USPS are cranking up the rates.

I ship a ton of 1 to 4 ounce packages and they used to average mid $3 and now mid to high $5's

USPS has been losing money for years. There have been many threads on it.

Increasing fuel costs surely are affecting USPS just like other carriers.

I assume you just pass this cost on to your customers. If not, you should be.

Me knows
Pablo is right...... you can't pass anything on to your customers these days.... trust me
I haven't seen 40 years of fuel charge fees refunded ever...........

More crying on FedEx
I'm wasting the day on a settlement check...typical FedEx stupidity.
To arrive 9:20 AM To 1:25 PM and now 2:35 pm to 6:35 pm....

Last minute call about a settlement I didn't know about.... the settlement company is only 8 miles away... I had no knowledge of it until it was over... Picking it up would be just to easy ... you can't fix stubid.....

People still send letters? Must be boomers.
I thought this was a derogatory word that was not to be spoken. I see how this works.

A postage stamp went up to 8 cents in 1971 - unsurprisingly the same year we went off the gold standard. The issue is not that a postage stamp is so expensive, its simply your dollar is worth so little.

I didn't think clean sarcasm was regulated.

You are correct in your definition of inflation. People would be wiser to think about $ this way, to say the price of gold in troy oz.

Its the boil the frog one degree at a time by design.

2% target inflation is not a random number, chosen because normal people don't notice 2% loss in purchasing power in a year.

The dollar has lost 97% of its purchasing power since the federal reserve was formed in 1909. The cure is worse than the disease.
