Priority Mail Big Increase

2% target inflation is not a random number, chosen because normal people don't notice 2% loss in purchasing power in a year.

The dollar has lost 97% of its purchasing power since the federal reserve was formed in 1909. The cure is worse than the disease.
Don't forget that some inflation is natural and expected as resources are never infinite.

Its the boil the frog one degree at a time by design.

Generations have forgotten true busts. I mean sure "the great recession" "dot.com" etc. Milk toast material. So there is that, goal achieved.

Well until the SHTF for real.

I get 300 stamps for $69.
I took them to two postmasters and they said they are legit but older forever stamps..

True.

Of course I could list all the problems the fed created or enabled. But as we know it would be a waste of time since I can't change any of it.

The key is people need to understand its not the post office raising prices, its the dollar going down, and acting accordingly. Unfortunately if you are of meager means even if you know you have no ability to act.

Thats way too simple an explanation. Cost push inflation exists for limited supply goods for sure. But if we didn't have a un-naturally increasing money supply something else would have to go down correspondingly. Supply / demand is defeated by an increasing currency base, which is how we get 81 cent stamps. Want more DD Ram, mail fewer letters.

I actually give stamps as gifts...
Saturday I sent an old friend a book and she was thrilled.
Of course most don't appreciate it but when they need one... they finally get it...

I don't use many but I like to have them around.

VERY occasional.

I don't have time to type any more USPS stories. I'll tell you in person one day.
The post office could easily be fixed, but 6 day a week bulk mail delivery is crazy in current times and the legacy pension costs need to be dealt with seperately.

Of course no one can seemingly accept either idea hence will only get worse.

A few years back the post office told me the over night shipping now takes three days from my location. Same as it does for regular mail. The only reason they told me was because I knew the guy behind the counter. It's just wrong to charge the higher rate knowing it doesn't speed anything up. Even mailing something local it now travels hundreds of miles then comes right back. There is something seriously wrong with the post office.
