Price of a 12 pack of Coca-Cola

Last week I read an article about the pricing of Diet Coke. The article stated that people will pay a high premium price for Diet Coke, well above the price of competitors. Coke knows this and does extremely well in the profit department selling Diet Coke at a high premium price to its peers.

Why Diet Coke got so expensive

The economy, explained by Diet Coke, kind of.

I was at a Dillons (Kroger) store yesterday, and pricing was as follows:
24 pk Diet Coke (actually any Pepsi or Coke product) 7.99 Digital coupon
.5L bottles any Pepsi, Dr Pepper or Coke product $3 for 6 pack.
2L bottles Pepsi or Dr Pepper products 5 for $5. Coke products 2 for $5.

Pricing changes tomorrow as the ad changes every Wed.

I am a life long fan of Moxie. Now bottled by Coca Cola here in New England. These days, I drink the "diet" Moxie.

Well, it disappeared from the shelves at the stores I normally shop. Doing some research, I found that Coca Cola has cut back on the distribution of "Diet Moxie". Some more research, I found it was stocked at a supermarket about 50 miles from here. I went and was able to score twelve 12 packs for under $60, in New Hampshire. Where there is no deposits, but the cans purchased there can be deposit returned here in Vermont.

Can the soda ;), drink water or unsweetened tea
There is nothing of any good in soda.

AS @Snagglefoot mentions, Berkshire owns 400 million shares of Coke for a reason. Worlds best marketing, manufacturing and distribution system in the world of drinks containing a massive amount of sweetener. Sugar or Corn syrup of which the brain gets addicted to. We wont discuss the sketchy reputation of artificial sweeteners.

There isnt any reason to drink it but to help ruin your health Berkshire knows you will never give it up. As a rule if your weight is good and your BMI it can be argued that sugar is ok. But obesity is the issue and sugary drinks directly contribute to that in a nation with 70% of the population overweight. (then we complain about the cost of health care*LOL*).
Im not an expert but sources like Cleveland Clinic, Harvard even .gov studies. Well, the internet is a good source unlike some say, just to known health sources for the information and not social media (oops!) and you tube.

Isn't Publix the expensive grocery store? I've never been in one.
I would figure that they would be expensive like Giant / Safeway / Wegmans that we have around here.
Is there a cheap one?

Ohhhh, you mean their regular prices which seem to keep the trash out of the stores. Yeah, their prices are elevated more than WM and Kroger, but it's worth it, IMO.

There's a skill to shopping at Publix. You better walk the aisles and buy extra of what you normally use when it is buy one, get one. The fun part is that in GA and AL, you don't have to get two items to get the sale price (1/2 price). State law in those two states dictate that each item must be sold at the discounted price.

Doesn't work that way in FL. Gotta get two. That's the reason we take a cooler with us and some dry items when we go to FL to save a little money on groceries.... We take some condiments, cooking oil, sugar, etc.
Yeah, this is true.
Publix is a really nice store but it ends there. We dont go anymore, except maybe if you want some good bakery bread or dessert (my wife not me as much)
The two for one deals are great but we noticed some games with that lately. Sometimes the price is overinflated before the sale, other times its now buy two get one free. The fruit section always looks amazing with the fruits nicely laid out, sadly the quality of the fruit most times for me is way less than ideal and it shouldn't at those prices. Most all fruit is not refridgerated. I no longer trust to buy fruit there, I got burned more times at Publix then anyplace.
The prices on yogurt and frozen yogurt are hard to swallow Yasso bars up to $6 to $6.59 for four frozen bars.

Sure the shopping carts are super clean and the wheels on the carts are as smooth as silk, almost like they use Mobil 1 in the bearings *LOL* You can push on hand and let go and it will glide to a stop. Very rarely you will ever get a whobbly wheel.

Anyway for me now, price and always quality rule, out last location for 16 years had a new Walmart and that was a nice store, great prices and liked the fruit and veggies better but still not refrigerated and I am not one to take fruit off those open displays of loose fruit, gross. . I eat A LOT of fruit. Yasso frozen yogurt bars are $4.99

Our now new first best (NEVER thought I would say this) is Food Lion for fruit, amazing, good prices, and all/most their fruit are in refrigerated cases. It's rare that I get junk. Wife likes the meat section. Yasso yogurt bars same price as Walmart $4.99 but common to be on sale for $3.99 and just two days ago Yes true) on sale for $3.99 (vs Publix at $6+) but buy 3 and get another $3 off, so net cost was $2.99 over $3 a box less than Publix. Also their pre sliced cheese are reasonable and pretty good, yogurt prices ok.

I'll cut this short, BITOG text box acting up on my iMac. Just tried moving the mouse off the box, seems like maybe that is working. Interesting.

I was at Costco on Thursday and a coke 24 pack was $17.xx, while a case of Yuengling $20.39. I could have sworn 2 years ago the coke was $9.xx. But may be wrong
Coke 12 packs 2 or 3 years ago at walmart here were $3.99. They didn't stock 24's back then - its sort of a new thing here. Sam's choice was $1.99 for 12 - so half price for no name. Now Coke is $7.49 for the 12, or $12.50 for the 24, and $4.46 for the no name, so less than half.

I was in Publix not long ago and there "deal" was buy 2, get 2 free, and they were 9.99 a case regular - so 20 bucks for 48 - so a bit of a deal if you want to buy 48. The Publix's here in SC sort of suck for reference. In Florida there much nicer, with better deli and bakery stuff. Here there just any other crappy store - with really bad meat to boot.

Harris Teeter used to be a happy in between - they were a NC based chain. Kroger bought them a couple years ago. There still good but their prices are a lot higher comparatively now.

Best place is the Tienda in the bad part of town. Selection is limited but prices, quality and service is awesome, they cut their own meat and there are fresh tortilla's sometimes - no pattern, whenever they show up I guess.

Yeah, Publix down here are nicer in the ‘better’ neighborhoods.

I only shop for groceries at Publix.

HEB in Texas is equivalent to Publix.

The highest growth product Coca Cola has is Coke Zero Sugar.

I don't like it quite as much, but store-brand soda is a buck per 2L bottle. I've been trying to cut back, but I love me some orange drank!

If someone wants to rant about Aspartame, here is how it’s spelled. :D

Besides this, it keeps the human body used to sweet taste so even if you arent drinking a sweet tasting soda (with or without sugar) You will also be eating sweet snacks... Meaning things that are not grossly sweet tasting will taste bland for the person who doesnt eliminate sugar from their diet and if you are drinking diet sodas part of your brain is fooled but the other part wants real sugar so you take it in with another product. .

Bottom Line is obese people will be drinking both diet and non diet soda instead of unsweetened products and water.
If someone can find the market share of sugar and non sugar soda I would find interesting, strange that I can not find stats for it.

No, it is fake and your body does not need Aspartame. Of course Coke is gonna love some gov agency saying it's "safe". It's a leap from safe to healthy in case people might think otherwise.
Yes, as I posted above, since it is fake, your brain is fooled at first but it will make your body make up for it in another product. It's a possible reason why obesity is linked just as much or more to diet soda as non diet.

Your brain uses up to half of all the sugar your body takes in, if it thinks its taking in sugar but turns out to be fake, it gets disappointed I think.

If we had a thread on bacon, someone would chime in they don't eat bacon. All good.
I make my own, usually out of much leaner pork butt and eat the he!! out of it!

I'm a Coke Zero guy. Best tasting soda on the market. I also like the seasonal Zero Dr Pepper products. Right now it's strawberry/cream. It's a little overpowering so I often mix a can of Coke Zero with a can of the Strawberry Cream Zero Dr. Pepper.

We have started seeing sales of $3.75-$4/12pk the last few months. For about 2 years a good sale was $4.50-5 per 12pk.

We have very nice newish Publix locally. I only hit them up for BOGO sales, never meat. Same with HT with the exception of pork butts. HT runs them at .99/lb quite often. Sometimes ribs will be a good buy there. My girl's office is in Greenville SC. The Publix there are rather janky in comparison.
