Texas Gold, API SC/CC.

Yeah but other than the elevated silicon with the virgin sample this looks like a suitable straight 30 grade oil. But I would not recommend using it though. But this would be a lot better top off than some of the stuff we have seen in the past.

Just googled their website (Texas Gold) and they also have Type A ATF which is suitable for Indian and import transmissions........wow.......

I wonder why they didn't flag the Texas Gold for containing coolant. The GILCO isn't even close to an SAE 30 in viscosity. I wonder why that wasn't flagged.

The Gilco is a 30 weight - you may be looking at the TBN. Coolant wasn't flagged because the test results are not conclusive for coolant, although I agree it's a possibility.

For some reason there are some Texans that have the thicker is better mentally. I have heard the argument on here because it is magically hotter in Texas 5W-20 should not be used. I have also seen responses that the poster "feels better on a 30 grade oil" in a very similar applications that I use 5W-20. Not all Texans do not base their lubrication needs on feelings though. It is alright there are many Arizonians that do not drive more the 15 minutes on most of their trips either but can not use anything "lighter" than 10W-40 because of the "Arizona heat".

I didn't know if Gilco was good or fly by night. I bought a fair amount for $1/qt and used it for flushing oil. It seems like its an OK oil.

It's fun to see the weird packaging on these oils. Thanks for the update, always an enjoyable read!
