I'm pretty happy with tirerack, and I haven't even received my purchase before.

Here's the deal.

2003 Saturn Ion 1.

I wanted to put snow tires on it this winter, we are going to get slammed here in Western New York.

Dunn tire wanted 379 to install some no name winter tires.
Firestone wanted 299 to install their firestone tires.

Walmart and BJ's club didn't even stock a winter tire for this car..

So I go on Tirerack, poking around..

I see that they had new aftermarket steel wheels for 20 bucks each on closeout.

I ended up with General Altimax Arctic tires (made in Germany, same as the Gislaved's).. for 46 bucks a pop.

They mount and roadforce balance the setup and ship directly to my door (no tax as well).

$339.80 including tax.

So, I go to checkout, it says that the tires are out of stock in the closest warehouse, but I could have them shipped right away from a further away warehouse for 45 bucks more, or I could wait 2 weeks.

I chose to wait 2 weeks. So this morning, I get a call from tirerack. The guy tells me that they are shipping from the far away warehouse for no extra charge, and they are shipping them today.

They must have mounted and balanced the tires on Thanksgiving day. Turnaround time was less than one business day from order to shipping.

The tire shops around here need to get their act together.

I've bought my two last sets from TireRack and have them put on at my indy mechanic here. The survey results make it easy to pick the best tire for the cheapest. So far, 2 for 2. They get here sometimes in 1 day after the order.

Nice to hear. Sounds like good customer service. Go the extra mile for a new (I assume?)customer never hurts.

I was enticed with the selection. But I just bought 2 BFGs at Costco.

Tire rack has GREAT deals!!

My buddy owns a window tinting shop in Philadelphia.
He got into selling rims and tires about 4 years ago. He bought the Hunter road force balancer and all.
Nearly put him out of work!!!

His cost from the warehouse just for the tires and rims was more $$$ then Tireracks price mounted and balanced and shipped to your door!!!

He became a tirerack dealer, but even that way he would only make 20-40 bucks at most a rim and tire.

Soooo
Yes Tirerack is the best price around for the most part.

Tire Rack has great prices and fast shipping.

They sent my last set of tires from Delaware to Florida, cause the warehouse in Georgia were out and they didn't even ask me to pay for the extra shipping.

I told the salesman I don't mind waiting, he said that they do it all the time just to keep their customers happy.

That's great to hear. I'd like to be able to use Tire Rack one day, just to try them out. I've never been able to find their price to be within $100 of a local deal when you factor in shipping and installation charge.

They do add some value with wheel/tire packages, though, because they can send you the mounted set. But for just tires, I've not found them really even close in price to local stores.

Last week, at Tire Rack, I ended up with a set of the BF Goodrich Traction T/A's in a P215-60-15 for $41 each. Normal price is $74 each.

They'll be here next Tuesday (they would have been here now, if it wasn't for the holiday)

I paid for shipping out of Indiana (which was out of stock), but they shipped them out of Delaware at no extra charge.

This will be a replacement set for my niece's Grand Am. Her Falkens were slashed by some loser, and I had to put her Summer set back on to get her by.

Been dealing with TR for 8 years now. Sometimes their pricing is competitive. Other times not so much. They are definitely very fast when it comes to order processing and delivery, but sometimes they manage to screw up. But at least they have good customer service that's quick to correct their booboos.

Unfortunately, you, being in Indiana, will be charged sales tax if you buy from TR, so the potential cost savings may be gone. Cross shop with Discount Tire - with shipping, mounting and balancing considered, they will probably match TR's offer.

I've also bought from Discount. Had two snags, but they did what it took to make it right. Because of the way they handled the snags, I'd buy from them again.

My only experience with TR was a set of tires for the srt-4 this last spring. I ordered, normal shipping, at 4:30PM and they arrived at my door around 9:00AM the next morning. I guess they had Scotty fire up the transporter for that one! My only complaint about them was that they would not sell me a set of hub rings, even though I had exact dimensions, because I had not purchased the wheels from them (they were on the car with no hub rings when I purchased it.) I understand that they didn't want to be responsible if I got the wrong ones but I had dimensions...
Discount Tire happily supplied the rings.

I had a bad experience with the Tire Rack, and will not buy from them again.

The mark of a good company is how they trear the customer after the sale when something goes wrong.

They failed me....never again.
