Post your Winter wheel/tire setup

I drove down to Hartford Ct. to pick up the Blizzaks for my wife's Rav4 and saved $80. That's one of the benefits of being retired I suppose because I never would have considered doing that while I was still working.:)
I will get them mounted next week.

That packaging and sticker look familiar. Tire Rack? Enjoy the retirement freedom.

Not that I wouldn't do the same just because for something to do.

How much was fuel/tolls/food for the round trip? Retired = Tired yesterday and tired today again so need a nap?

Tire Rack. It was just over 200 miles round trip and took about 4 hours and no tolls. I figure about 25-30 dollars in gas to save $80 so I came out about $50 ahead before factoring in wear and tear on my truck. I would normally mount these myself but it is now cold and snowing here so I may let my local shop do it.

JDM BBS forged wheels with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5’s. Car is an 08 Outback 3.0 liter [H6] with the VTD drive system. Also has rear LSD and VDC. The only way you can tell the six is one badge on the rear - which I removed….

Put my set of Conti Viking 7s on standard BMW alloys on my x5 yesterday. Fourth season on this set.

I just ordered a summer wheel and tire set from Tire Rack and noticed the option to save $80 by driving up to Windsor (Hartford) which is four hours one-way. Then it occurred to me that most past orders from Tire Rack had shipped from New Castel, DE. I called to see if picking up there was an option and sure enough it was. Not only did I score the $80 delivery discount but Delaware also has no sales tax. Given that the target vehicle is a 2023 Prius it will cost two gallons of gas to save $150. If you are wondering "why now?" it turns out that the Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ tires are on back order until 28 February.

Got a DIY winter/wheel mount appointment. I give myself 30-45 mins per wheel since I'm also rust proofing with Krown at each corner. Konig 18" Hyper Trail 2s and Bridgestone Blizzak LTs 265/70R18 on the 2025 Nissan Armada Pro-4x.

Is it safe to mount Blizzak WS90's on just the front wheels on a 2020 Honda Civic coupe?
The manufacturers say no.
This is for a NJ car which has never seen much bad weather in the past few winters.
Thanks
Edit:
The more I read the more I realize it's probably not safe.

Correct, bad idea. Like winter boots on front and flip flops rear. First snowy turn especially if you step on brake you will know why.

I did that on a Civic in 1988 in the Adirondacks at least I survived. Shop (and owners manual) said 4 but I knew better than to fall for the upsell on my FWD car. Spun in front of a semi who luckily missed me. I bought the other 2 the next day.

Its too bad these videos don't go into detail on the actual snow depth, surface under the snow, air temperature, snow temperature, humidity, even snow grain structure. I'm sure Pirelli keeps track of those in great detail for their own testing.
My theory is that their are good cold weather -10C and lower tires(studless ice tires), and good warmer temperature winter tires(More open tread pattern, squared edge shoulders, often studdable), as none of the newer winter tires I've had, has done as well in deep, snow/slush or unplowed roads as the old style, open tread, very aggressive snow tires we used to have.
The new tires are better "overall" to the point that I just run them as all seasons, once they get down 6-7/32, but if you are bogging up and down hills on an unplowed logging road with 8" fresh snow, on 4" of loosely packed snow, around the freezing point, ice tires aren't working that well.

IIRC, the rubber classes of ice racing are running around 15-20 psi. Enough pressure to keep them on the rim in some ruts, and bumping and banging.

Yeah, modern car tire widths, and suspension stiffness, and much better winter tire traction in certain conditions, makes it not work anymore.
Growing up, we had a 1985 Corolla that weighed ~2000lbs, with I believe 155/80 R13 tires, and soft rolly-polly suspension, that was quite controllable with winter fronts and some square shouldered all-seasons on the back. My mom never had a problem, but when we tried the same thing with the next car, a Ford Escort GT with wider tires and much stiffer suspension, it was clear it needed all 4 tires.

Unless forward moving is an absolute must.
Where I grew up people were mounting two snows in the front on FWD. But that is bcs. many streets had 10-14% grade and very narrow. Losing traction in the middle of climb was not an option.
Otherwise, in the back!
