Post your Winter wheel/tire setup

I just put on a set of GT Radial IcePro SUV3's on the Outback in 225/65R17. They actually won CR measured tests overall in the winter truck tires category, with only the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV coming close, and they are the only regular snow tire to score 3/5 in wet braking, all the rest are 2/5 until you get to performance winter tires.
They are studdable so I wondered if they tested them unstudded in the non snow and ice testing, and then studded for snow and ice tests. So I emailed them and asked, and they confirmed they ran all the tests with the tires unstudded.
These are 12/32 to start which I like too. So far I've only run them on dry pavement and they balanced easily, and are a touch quieter than the 3/32 OEM Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport AS I took off, and not obviously squirmy either.
And they were priced below many 3rd tier mystery tires at $135 each, so I decided to try them out. Locally, they didn't have the 215/65R17 version available, or I probably would've got those. We'll see how they do as they get down to ~7/32 as the Xice2's we have are pretty terrible at 7/32 in slush or loose snow of any depth now.

I ran T Radial Champiro IcePros on my Focus and they were extremely impressive. Spectacular in the snow and somehow lower rolling resistance than the OE tires!

Wife's car has Konig Heliums with a 1 year old set of Blizzak WS90's. My car has a set of Konig Control with a brand new set of Michelin X-ice snow. Same wheel and tire size since the cars are identical.

So we will need some reviews with video link if possible of the differences between the Michelin And Bridgestone in the first snow. ;) 😁

But seriously some honest feedback if you have an opportunity. Braking, acceleration, stopping, emergency turn and then the overall dry/wet/noise.

Not many have the chance with same vehicle and different tires.

My "winter" setup here in central VA....just my UHP all seasons. Summer tires coming off this week with lows forecasted in the upper 30s by the weekend but highs still near 70 this week. Hasn't snowed here in the Richmond area in at least 4 years.

I put the 7-8/32" GY WinterCommand Ultra's back on the Accord. Date code is 2121 on all 4. My 3rd winter on them. Should be fine for this winter and maybe even next winter.

Only have 2 pictured but 4 Conti VikingContact 7's on sons Forte. This is their 5th winter and all are right at 6/32" so last winter on them. If it turns into a crazy winter maybe even replaced earlier.

Just replaced my OEM Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/Ts at 69K miles with Michelin LTX defender platinums. I probably had another 5k or so left with the GYs but Sam’s had a pretty good door buster sale. Michelins have 70k mile warranty so hoping for a decent bit more considering how long the GYs lasted. Definite improvement in ride comfort and noise (as expected). Driven through one heavy rain at highway speeds and no complaints.

ETA: sorry, missed the “winter” part of the post title

It qualifies if you use those during the winter. ;) 😁

Daughters CRV got it's 4 VC7's back on. 8/32" all around date code 3819 on all 4. This will be 5th winter on them.

Wife's Pilot got it's 4 WinterContact Si's. 7/32" on 3 with date codes of 0818. 4th tire has 8/32" and 3517 code. It was an ebay purchase last year to replace a screw in sidewall flat. This will be 7th winter on them.

Kumho WinterCraft Wi31+ on everything we own. Best wear and traction for the price I have seen in the last twenty years. Mounted and balanced these earlier this month for the Kona AWD. 215/65/16 on Elantra GT rims. Last set of Wi31+ lasted five years, 70,000km and still had 8/32", but I don't run tires more than five seasons. Sold them and made someone else very happy. See what these China-made Kumho's last for compared the old Korea-made ones.

I drove down to Hartford Ct. to pick up the Blizzaks for my wife's Rav4 and saved $80. That's one of the benefits of being retired I suppose because I never would have considered doing that while I was still working.:)
I will get them mounted next week.
