2000 watt Champion inverter generator. OCI was roughly 25-30 hours. We used this Friday at work for about 14 hrs after losing power on Thursday from the storms that rolled through, and then I borrowed it to rotate between powering my fridge and freezer at home until the power came back on around 11:00 pm last night. I figured it deserved an oil change and cleaning of the spark arrestor before I take back tomorrow. Definitely made me decide I need to pick up a generator of my own.

Out: 13-14 oz of Kohler 10W-40 synthetic blend.

In: Frankenbrew of 8 oz Royal Purple Synerlec 10W-40 and 6 oz of Amsoil Small Engine 10W-40

Bought a new Predator 3500 watt generator inverter after our power was lost from the storm thursday. We were initially told it'd be a couple days but they told us today it's gonna be a week or more before powers restored so we went and purchased it.

Put QS synthetic 10w30 in for the break in and ran it a few hours like the manual said to, then went out at midnight in total darkness to change it out for a second round of 10w30 QS synth. The oil was super metallic so I'll probably change it again tomorrow or Wednesday and see if it's clear or not. Hopefully I don't mess this thing up, I've never had a generator before

You should be fine. Change it more often in the beginning and then you can go longer.

I did something like 5 hours on the first OCI, 25 hours on the second and now I go 100 hours. My Wen has over 600 hours on it.

I also recommend the magnetic dipsticks. They help collect debris in a non oil filter application.

Just my $0.02

Honda HRX mower
Out: dealer fill, they had changed it in Nov when I had some non engine work done on it

I went ahead and changed it again this morning after running for about 12 more hours and it was really clear so I think I got all the metal out. I will look into a magnet dipstick, from looking into this generator that seems to be one of the most recommended things for it.

I have the same generator; it's a fine machine that powers everything essential. Mobil1 10w-30 High Mileage for the first five hours and again until 30 hours. 5w-40 RT6 ever since. Can't say that I noticed any difference between those two oils.
I'm gonna use this jug of QS 10w30 up and probably switch it to a 5w30 since I'm possibly going to need to use it in winter. So far it's been way more efficient than it said it would so I'm happy with it!

New 173cc walk behind lawnmower from Canadian Tire, no oil supplied, filled with Duron SAE 40, ran it for two hours, drain and fill with same.
Champion pressure washer 10w30 Duron.
Ariens 306cc FI snowblower 5w30 Duron.
2011 JD X320 726cc Kawasaki 82 hours on machine, 12 hours on oil, 20w50 Castrol motorcycle and 3600 fram ultra.
Hydrostatic drive, 1.5L Shell Spriax J20C spec, vis@40C 60, 100C 9.4 The only way to change it, is suck it out from the vent plug hole. Pita!

I use mine in the winter too, but it lives in a garage that doesn't go below freezing. Think about how cold your oil might be for a worst case start. I can't see a reason for 5w-30 when starting at 32 F, but would more inclined to use it if regularly starting at 0 F. I put the 5w-40 RT6 in my Predator 3500 because it can be expected to run anywhere from 0 to 100 F. I want the "40" part of that anytime it runs loaded above 86 F (30 C.)

My old craftsman 42” rider got some new rotella 15w40 in the crankcase and I managed to suck a quart of hst “fluid” (black and glittery) out the vent hole on top, and put a quart of 15w40 in. I think the hst slips a little less now than before when it’s hot, but not a big difference.

I changed the oil in my Wen 3800 watt generator yesterday after getting home from the LOLMDS @ Deer Creek Speedway. I put 108 hours on this oil change. The unit has 689 hours on it. I’m sending in a UOA to see if 100 hours is too much for the 18.6 ounces of oil.

Out: F&F 5w40 HDEO

Toro super recycler. Briggs 163 engine. Did the 3-5 hour break in oil change. Came with Briggs 30W oil. Came out pretty dark for only having 4 hours on the oil. I laughed when it said no oil change needed.

2016 John Deer X354 riding mower. Unknown hours.
Out: unknown oil, john deer filter.
In: 2qts 10w60 Total Quartz, Fram Tough Gard filter.

2007 John Deer Gator TS, 1222 hours
Out: unknown oil, no filter. Photo has a fram but I didn’t know the engine didn’t have one at the time.
In: 1.5 qts Castrol Edge 5w50.

Greased all the zerk fittings I could find.

I'm surprised there's no oil filter on that Gator. The one I looked at in the past (no idea what year) had a Kawasaki engine, probably a FE-290, which has a pressurized oil system.

2019 Generac 16kw standby generator, GT999 engine
OCI: one year, 34.2 hours runtime
Out: Miles Lubricants 5w-30 synthetic, Fram TG4386 filter
In: Pennzoil Platinum HM 5w-30, Fram PH4386 filter

This unit runs in weekly exercise mode for 12 minutes. So other runtime for the year was about 24 hours. Engine runs on propane, which I think contributes to moisture buildup in the sump. Not happy with what the old oil looked like, but I think it's common in these engines.

Set it to run longer so it will evaporate the condensation (moisture) that accumulates in the oil. Suggest 60 min run time per week. Get it hot and it will be OK!!

I was too. I found this gentleman desmonstrating a change, and he mentions it here as well for his. I might look into adding one if its possible.

Honda GX390 on my truck air compressor

Out: Mystik 15w50
In: P66 10w30 for 30 minutes to get some water contamination out
Final fill: Mystik 15w50

Also changed out the store brand ND30 in the compressor and refilled with Quin-Cip I had left over from a PM at work.

I think there was a serial number break where they got oil filters. My grandparents bought an older 4x2 second hand and put thousands of hours on it with no oil filter. I wouldn’t worry too much. The big thing on these is keeping the differential fluid changed and don’t cheap out on it. They have wet brakes which requires the differential to be removed and split to replace the discs. My grandparents got changed with yellow bucket 303 and the brakes chattered, grabbed and all around sucked. Took a few changed with Hygard to get things back to normal.
