2001 Onan 4000 series 4KY RV Generator, 110 hours

Unknown dealer oil drained

Fill with 1.5 qt Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil, SAE 30

This was the only straight 30 I could find locally meeting / exceeding Onan's requirement for API SM/SL/CD

There is no oil filter and AFAIK this engine relies on splash lube from the sump

MTD Snow Blower with Tecumseh 5hp
Out: Unknown, and barely showed up on the stick.
In: MaxLife 5w-30

I got the snow blower for free because it didn't run. Oil was like tar and very low, carb was all gummed up, and the spark plug was worn to nothing.

Cleaned the carb, and topped off the oil with some conventional and a splash of sea foam. Drained and refilled the gas tank and bowl. Pulled the cord and it fired right up. Sprayed some Amsoil Powerfoam in the carb, and let it run for a half hour or so. I then drained the oil, which was black as ink, refilled with some 5w-30 MaxLife, installed a new plug, and it runs like a dream.

1991 Craftsman Chipper/Shredder with 5hp Briggs and Stratton

Out: Valvoline 30 weight
In: Rotella T6 5w40

This chipper had the stupidest oil drain setup ever. There was no convenient way to drain the oil without getting it all over the machine. The plug was located in a bad spot, and the wheels are very difficult to remove. I bought some 1/4" pipe and made an oil drain pipe so changing the oil is much easier.

98 Murray with 4.5 Briggs

Out: Something grey and nasty
In: Rotella 10w30 same as the other mower.. shouldn't have to change either for 2 years.

Chicago 5500w generator with a 13hp LiFan...

Out: Last year's QS Advanced Durability 10w30
In: Pennzoil Platinum 5w30, what I am "standardizing" in all my OPE.

Why such a great oil? Got a lawn tractor with a 22hp Briggs V-twin which I hear likes to run hot. Rather than different oils for each, easier to pony up the $29 at Wal-Mart for 5qt and run it in everything.

Neighbor's Ariens 522 Snowblower - 5hp Tecumseh Snow King

Out: Factory fill
In: Rotella T5 10w30

Currently have carb soaking in cleaner. She left untreated gas in it since last winter. Stupid Ethanol.
