That's about what I do with my mower. I have a drip bottle that gets the remnants of all my family's oil changes. That gets poured into the mower and if need, topped off with 10w30. Mower is running great for 15 years so far!

Honda GCV160 in a pressure washer
Out: O’Reilly(Claumet) 10w30
In: Castrol Edge FST A3/B3/SL Euro 5w30
while this Honda is easy on oil, it was sheared down pretty well. I’m only running synthetics or HDEOs in OPE whenever possible. But I’m also a believer that fresh oil is better than old oil too.

Changed the oil in my B&S 5500W gen with the 342CC engine. Out B&S 5w30 Synthetic, about 45 hours on it, in Valvoline syn MaxLife Full Synthetic 10w30. I have a slow leak at the crankshaft seal, a common B&S problem it seems and maybe this will help, who knows. Second was my snow blower. 179cc PowerMore engine. Out was Rotella T 10w30, in the same. I'm set for power outages and snow

Brigg & Stratton 5500W generator, 342cc engine, out Brigg & Stratton 5w30 oil, in Valvoline Full Synthetic 10w30 HM Maxlife. It has an occasional leak from the crank shaft seal, a common B&S issue it seems, maybe this will help. Troy-Bilt 179cc 24" snow blower. Out Shell Rotella T 10w30, in the same.

I do the same thing! Dump the old oil out, pour in the new. Easy, Peasy. Always the correct amount.
