Post Your Latest Power Steering Fluid Change

2020 Dodge Caravan, syringe and emptied and filled the reservoir until the quart of Mopar ATF+4 was empty, driving a few miles around the neighborhood between each fill.

The fluid that came out was NASTY and nowhere near the stock red color.

2009 Buick Lucerne
Replaced steering rack, flushed steering system
Out: not much unknown oil, about 3 quarts Fram Dex/Merc ATF
In: Fram Dex/Merc ATF
How is your Buick doing w ATF?
I just acquired an 07 Impala and used Lubegard PS fluid this time, little salty per qt at $15 when I can get a gal of ATF for $20. I am probably going to use Valvoline MV Import syn ATF as that is what I am using in my 93 C1500 and was trying to simplify my shelf.
Thanks

This wasn't my car, it was something run through the shop I was working at. It did fine on the test drive with regular Dex/Merc. I have Mobil 1 ATF (Dex/Merc, synthetic) in my 04 Silverado and it does fine.

Great thanks for the update. I know older GMs don't care what you run in them. I just wasn't sure about if newer ones cared or not.
Thanks for the update.

2002 Toyota Highlander.
Wheels lock to lock to push old fluid through return hose. Was able to replace the entire system fill.
Out: Factory brown swill + Lubegard cleaner I put in awhile ago.
In: Valvoline Extended Protection ATF.
Steering is much improved.
These Toyotas are so easy to service. I just hook reservoir return line to the MityVac and suck it through. Then add fresh ATF and suck that through. Easy peasey.
For extra credit, pull reservoir and spray it out with BrakeKleen.

2004 Audi A6 2.7T Sport Package, 6-speed manual.

Sometimes makes pump/rack noise when turning full lock.

Out: Pentosin CHF11S
In: Ravenol SSF

Method:
-Engine off, elevated front wheels off ground.
-Siphoned reservoir dry and added 10oz of BG Quick Clean
-Cycled steering wheel lock-to-lock 20x
-Siphoned reservoir, disconnected return line from reservoir and connected the end of the return line to a length of clear tubing. Places distal end of tubing into pail, clamped tube to pail with vice-grip tool. Placed rubber cap on return line inlet to reservoir.
-Filled reservoir with Sea-Foam transmission Tune.
-Cycled steering wheel lock-to-lock, observing clear tubing for color change, and topping off the reservoir with sea-foam until only sea-foam was coming out (pale red fluid).
-Switched to Amsoil P/S fluid, filled reservoir, and repeated cycling steering wheel lock-to-lock, topping up with Amsoil P/S fluid as needed until only Amsoil (pale tan fluid) was coming out.
-Switched to Ravenol SSF (bright lime green) in reservoir, continued cycling lock-to-lock until only Ravenol SSF was coming out. Stopped adding SSF, cycled lock-to-lock until reservoir was empty.
-Removed cap from reservoir inlet, reconnect return hose.
-Top up reservoir with SSF. Replace reservoir cap.
-Start engine and check for leaks (none).
-With engine running, cycle steering lock-to-lock 20x to ensure air is purged. Shut off engine.
-lower car back to ground.
-Start engine, take short test drive.

Result:
Smoother steering. Some noise remains when doing tight turns at slow speeds. Overall, improved.

Things I’d change for next time:
-add the recommended amount of Sea-Foam transmission Tune to PSF about a week before I intend to flush. Drive car as normal.
-Siphon reservoir dry and add 10oz of BG Quick Clean to top up reservoir a day or two before I plan to do the flush. Drive car as normal. This should give the Quick Clean a chance to circulate at operating temperature and dissolve any deposits, instead cycling it through the system cold, once.
