How many times/volume of power steering fluid would I have to remove and replace via the turkey baster method in order to achieve the best result for a 1999 Chevy Silverado 4.8L?
In general, 2-3 quarts would be a good estimate for the initial flush. From then on do a drain and refill every year, or 15,000 miles and you'll be good to go.
I just removed all the fluid in the reservior (about 8-10 ounces)and replaced with new Mobil 1 synthetic atf in my 95 BMW. Will do again in a few days. Wonder how much is the total capacity including pump and lines. The atf I removed looked red with only a little browning
I did the turkey baster flush with about 3 quarts of mobil 1 atf about 2 years ago. It seems I had to do the process 8 or so times.
