I also replaced the drain plug with a Votex drain valve.
No, it isn’t using any oil. I changed it based on time rather than mileage but I can go at least 6k between changes without having to top off.At 82K is your Mazda requiring any top off between OCI's
Have you considered a higher grade oil?I have been very pleased with my RAV4 and hope to get many years out of it
I haven’t. I see a lot of people on here using like 0W-20 in this engine. It kind of makes me cringe but I would consider it.Have you considered a higher grade oil?
Think it's going to "blow-up" with higher 200F hot oil viscosity?I haven’t. I see a lot of people on here using like 0W-20 in this engine. It kind of makes me cringe but I would consider it.
The thickness variation is what makes me cringe.Think it's going to "blow-up" with higher 200F hot oil viscosity?
There's a lot more viscosity "thickness variation" going as the oil goes from cold to hot. Bet that same engine used in other countries "recommend" a higher grade. Anyway, there are tons of threads about that, so don't want to side track this thread. The thickness variation is what makes me cringe.
And if you chose 5w- you'd be asked why 5 and not zero. Plus we have the straight 40 in everything guy.The thickness variation is what makes me cringe.
Dude, my 2025 RAV4 2.5L non hybrid gets 34mpg hwy as I have a 60 mile round trip drive for work daily. You did perfectly fine in your choice of your rav4 and don’t let anyone tell you differently. My 2021 Toyota RAV4 LE AWD 65,024 miles. 4,968 miles on oil.

I was going to stay after work and do it but decided to do it on lunch because I really don’t feel like staying late today as we’ve been slammed so went ahead and got it done. I would have done it at home but it’s so much easier to rotate the tires on the lift and I don’t have a power tool to take off the cover underneath at home either. Also inspected my brakes and have 6mm on the front and back still the original brake pads on it. I also tested the battery and tested very good so not worried about that either despite its age. I purchased the this car back in October and this is the second oil change I did on it. Everyone tells me I should of gotten a hybrid but I get 30.3 average miles to the gallon and have to fill up like once every other week so I don’t regret buying the only gas one at all. I have been very pleased with my RAV4 and hope to get many years out of it.

Wow we both have a 60 mile round trip commute too lol. Awesome man. Mine has gradually went up overtime. When I got it I think it was setting at 25.1 and then just went up overtime with driving regularly.Dude, my 2025 RAV4 2.5L non hybrid gets 34mpg hwy as I have a 60 mile round trip drive for work daily.
