Also used the 10W-40 in the gearbox to replace whatever was in it (I suspect the factory-fill). The manual says 10W-30 or 10W-40 is acceptable in the transmission if gear oil is unavailable. I got this car basically free, so I thought fresh engine oil was better than old dirty gear oil. It’ll need a clutch soon anyway so I’ll drain it at that point and refill with gear oil.

2018 Equinox 1.5 turbo at 59,903 miles. Last oil change was August 20 at 56,143, so 3,750 on the last run. Stupid me bought high mileage PP (give me a break, working 7 night shifts in a row tends to mess you up). I wanted to do a change before it gets stupid cold here in MN and I had the heated garage at work accessible. Oil life monitor showed 50%. So far this vehicle has been pretty much trouble free and gets decent gas mileage.

The PP High Mileage oil isn't Dexos approved, but I doubt that makes any difference now since the car is out of warranty.
