2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L (VCM motor) with 179K miles.
Out: Valvoline Modern Engine 5W-20
In: Rotella Gas Truck 5W-30 (first time this J35 has seen this thick stuff. Hope it doesn’t grenade, LOL)
Filter: 2nd OCI on the Fram Ultra (original version with 20K rating)…hope the engine doesn’t fall out.
OLM: 30% oil life remaining. (6200 miles since last oil change). Just finished driving from MA to FL and back, so over 2.8K miles in the last week.
Engine is working fantastic. Uses “0” oil, except when using any Mobil Synthetic, which will cause it to consume about 1/4 qt every couple thousand miles (for whatever reason).

Sorry to say that the engine will indeed grenade and then before you come to a full stop, it will fall out due to not changing the filter! 😇

I was actually joking. Now you’re making me very worried… : ). Starting to have doubts that this Honda will make it to 300K miles. On a serious note though, the formerly juddering torque converter has completely fixed itself after many years and almost 100K miles. I will start another thread on that sometime.

Just threw 5 qt of Mobil 1 Advanced Synthetic 10W-30 that was sitting on a shelf for a while into the Sorento (2.4L) paired with another ST9688 filter.

Out was Costco/Kirkland 5W-30.

Some Valvoline Full Synthetic 75W-90 gear oil for the rear diff too. Roughly 32,500 miles on the last fill of ST 75W90, some mush cleaned off the drain plug but otherwise looked mostly like how it went in while coming out so I’m happy considering it was subject to light trails, towing and the odd splash.

2017 Toyota Camry 47,596 miles 5k on oil and filter.

Out: 5 quarts Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy. Off: Fram Ultra

In: 5 quarts Toyota 0W-20, On: Toyota 90915-YZZA1 and a new drain plug gasket.

Next,

2008 Ford Escape 206,575 around 5K on oil.

Out: 6 quarts of Castrol Edge High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W-20. Off: Motorcraft FL820-S

In: 6 quarts of Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend 5W-20, On: Motorcraft FL820-S

Just done another one tonight.

2004 Toyota Camry 285,768 miles 3k on oil

Out: can’t remember it’s been so long probably Castrol or Valvoline. Off: Fram TG4386

In: 5 quarts clearance Valvoline Daily Protection 5W-30
On: Fram TG4386

I know that at least one quart drained from the Camry is Havoline as we just added a quart two days ago as it’s an oil user. It’s not picky as to what we run in it. Any and every name brand has been run in it and Napa store brand. The reason for waiting so long to do the oil is it sat from September to February as the water pump went bad and we couldn’t get the serpentine belt on until last month.

The engine will be happy with what you’re doing. I predict success and you’ll make it to 300k!
