The funny part is most ILSAC oils probably have a similar TBN to the Euro-L.Call it the crazy Bitog in me but I couldnt stand the thought of having a lower TBN oil in my engine, so with only 208 miles on the PP Euro L 5W30, I drained it for
5 quarts Castrol HM 10W30, 3/4 quart Napa 10W30 HM syn, Microgard MSL7502 filter
The PP Euro will be used to start fires and for a squirt can.![]()
Which oils are known to have a higher TBN? Im considering running HPL next oil change, should I go with the 5W30 no VII?The funny part is most ILSAC oils probably have a similar TBN to the Euro-L.
Voitelukeskus Tonttila Oy, located in Tampere Finland.Where do you buy Petro Canada fluids? I’m assuming not at the gas station, as that seems crazy expensive.
Euro L is good oil, may reconsider next timeCall it the crazy Bitog in me but I couldnt stand the thought of having a lower TBN oil in my engine, so with only 208 miles on the PP Euro L 5W30, I drained it for

Why the obsession with TBN, high TBN no longer matters, we don't have enough sulfur in our fuel anymore for higher TBN to be a major deciding factor on an oil. Now what matters is how well the oil was tested for long drains and what the anti-oxidant package is like, Euro L has to be a pretty **** stout oil to meet BMW LL-04.Which oils are known to have a higher TBN? Let’s change something that doesn’t really need changing - the most Bob thing ever.944 pages, maybe we should do this by month or year "June 2023 post your latest chage" or "2023 post your latest change"
Pics or it ain't real!Something new! I picked up a 2007 Corvette C6 with 57k on it yesterday. I've always dreamed of owning a Vette and never thought it would actually come to be. Anyway, it had about 5k on whatever was in it (5w30) and had about 30% left on the OLM. It was never a track car and I think every prior owner was gentle with it both with performance and in taking care of it. So I hit it with a quick wash/vac and very mild detail. I then did the following to get her started on her new routine. One great thing...when I test drove it, it was raining. I turned on the wipers and the rubber was coming off them. The owner apologized but said he'd never driven it in the rain in the time he owned it. So I popped on some $8 Michelin wipers from Walmart. That's what I love about Vette's...high performance but I can buy everything I need at Wally world, including air filter and wipers!
2007 Corvette C6 LS2
Out: ?? bulk 5w30 or maybe Mobil 1. Not sure. AC oil filter. K&N air filters (stock intake)
In: Mobil 1 EP 5w30, 5.5 quarts, Fram Endurance 10060 filter, Fram Ultra air filters.
I'm now looking to learn how to change the transmission fluid and rear differential fluid.
I can't wait to pile the miles on this old but beautiful Vette!
