Due to his job keeping him 3+ hours away from dad's house, my son did his last oil change at the dealer at 50199 miles. They managed to cross thread three of his wheel lugs while doing their "complimentary check;" even though he told them to do nothing but change the oil. They repaired two that day. (I found the other one this morning when I did this oil change). I HATE worthless stealership service departments. They do a crappy job, charge a fortune and put you out on the road in any condition. (Rant over)

I went ahead and did his oil change a little early, to check behind the dealer. (Glad I did) and to make sure they didn't screw that up either. At any rate we'll even out the oci next time at 60K, so this bunch of QSUP will have to do 6K+ duty. Now to avoid dealer service departments and their inexperienced oil change staff.

Look in my signature. Same car/engine. Went through it all, just like you are now. Flushes, piston soak, you name it. Car was maintained from new every 5k. Didn't matter.

Nothing worked.....

Carbon scoring of cylinder walls. That's all she wrote. Chances are about 90% that is your issue also. Curious to see how the R&P works for you. Hope it does.

If not:

Change her oil with a 40 weight. Best thing I have tried to slow down consumption. JUNK engines......
We will see how it goes in the next 3k, six months. If no improvements, i will suggest moving another grade up and suggest her to start budgeting for a new vehicle. Her last drain only consumed half a quart. But this drain her dipstick was bottomed out.

2024 Mazda CX-30 Turbo, 1500 mi

Out: Valvoline Restore & Protect 5w30, Mazda OEM filter (put in at 400 mi)
In: HPL Premium Plus 0w30, Mazda OEM filter

Only 1100 miles on this oil but I’m trying to flush break-in metals. Not documenting this particular change, so as far as the warranty is concerned, the VRP is still in there lol. I plan to run the HPL for the next 5000 miles.

2015 Kia Soul Base 1.6 I4. Grandmas car. 75,756 miles. Can’t remember exact mileage on oil but I know it’s been awhile I think it was 8k between oil changes. But glad to get it done before her and my aunt go on vacation to Tennessee. I typically do 5k in this car but she was a little overdue. Oil very dark coming out.

Out: 3.8 quarts of Mobil 1 5W-20 (I think it’s been awhile so maybe mistaken)
Off: Kia genuine 35505 filter.

In: 3.8 quarts Castrol GTX Ultraclean 5W-20
On: Kia genuine 35505 and new drain plug gasket.

Just did the misses 2010 Corolla with the 1.8L 2ZR-FE again… At least the Fumoto makes it clean and easy!

She has gummed up oil control rings and drinks 0W-20 but handles 30 weight in her old age just fine. However just got some 5W-30 Valvoline R&P and really hoping it can make even a small difference. The Amsoil I dumped and yes “Wasted” only had 2477KM on it. But it was my choice to waste it. This oil will be in there at least 6 month and 6000KM.

Out Amsoil OE 5W-30 and a Fram XG10358

Did you find the VRP in Canada or did you cross over into the US to buy it? It’s not in Southern Ontario yet but I picked some up myself on a cross border shopping trip to Niagara Falls NY
