Post your latest oil change

Junk engine? Because that car only made it to 265,000 miles? The hand-wringing over H/K vehicles on this forum is epic. . . .
Kia Rio in my signature has 155K almost. Taken a lot of heroics to get it there. Started burning oil at 100K. Maintenance was meticulously done on that car.

So, yes. The gamma 1.6 is a JUNK engine. Just because you can add oil constantly, change catalytic converters, piston soaks, etc. to keep it going to X miles, doesn’t mean it’s a good engine. Intervention isn’t required constantly on good engines.

PSA: No hand-wringing was required for this announcement. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Nothing wrong with speaking the "truth!!"

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.4L with 51,130 miles. 4,000 mile OCI.

Out: Supertech synthetic 5W-30, OEM filter.

In: Havoline HM Synthetic 5W-30, OEM filter. Forgot I had it so used it instead of going to buy some. Bought it last Fall.

Doing the 2024 Mazda CX-5 next week (used a PG4612 filter in that one), so will cut both filters and post after that.

Yep!
With Korean stuff that consumes, smokes or is gas diluted, stay far away from 8-9csts virgin and begin with 12. Don't be afraid to use 14csts, unless you live in the coldest regions.

Keep those OCIs short at Severe Service recommendations and never let the dipstick oil level below a half-quart low.
I'd go a step further and say use the thickest it will still start with. I was running 5w-50 all last winter, just give it 30 seconds to a minute to warm up and then drive gently and you'll be fine.

Brothers 68’ Cadillac DeVille convertible. About 95k on it. 500 engine bored to 513 CI.

Out: BOSCH 3323 long filter (Bosch premium made June 2, 2019) and TOTAL 5w40. Had roughly 1,9xx miles according to his “notebook log”

In: AC DELCO old stock filter PF24 and QS EURO 5w40 from Wal Mart sale. This and total was his Christmas gift last year. He quote “ dang son, I’ll have enough oil for 8+ years!” I said “your family and you are welcome”

2012 Civic EX, 129.5 miles, unknown OCI, Minder said 10%.
Out: 4 qts kinda dark oil, Honda filter
In: 4 qts M1 HM 0w20, M1 110A filter

1st service since we got this car for a friend in May.
FYI MityVac works excellent on this car...

My son’s 2010 Silverao 4.8 liter V-8. 190,000 miles. The oil life indicator was down to 0 in just over 8,000 miles and one year.

Out: My last Champion filter ( not Champ labs) and 5w30 motor oil. It was on for two changes, total 12,000 miles over a two year period.

In: 5w30 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum
Fram: Ultra 100060 ( the “new version”)

This is the “ Double Ultra “ change.

Also lubed the front end as the upper ball joints and tie rod ends have after market versions with zerks. Sprayed the front sway bar mounting pads with CRC heavy duty marine rust inhibitor. This a trouble spot for GM trucks.

Change it sooner 4k and move up to 5w30. Do this NOW, unless you plan on selling the vehicle premature to old age.

Instead of Warren's Costco's Kirkland, use the same manufacturer name (Warren Supertech 20k Advanced Oil). For a few dollars more, it's oil change money better spent. It will shear a bit less and the +viscosity helps tame the dilution longer.

I've used this one in the past. I prefer it over 20k's Quaker State and NAPA.
Now I'm all-in using boutique oils.

10 year 100k power train warranty, gotta stick with 0w20. I’ll try the Evil Empire oil next time.
