Post Your Latest (Motorcycle) Oil Change!

Curious on the above post, why the different brands of 10w40 oils for similar oil change intervals between the two bikes? One is a conventional oil and one is a synthetic oil. Unless I read it wrong. If the bikes called for different weights of oil I could see going with different brands and compositions but if they're both using the same oil weight... Lol, is one the red-headed stepchild and the other gets better treatment?

Out: Castrol ActEvo 10W-30, Purolator Boss 14610
In: Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40, Purolator Boss 14610

Did the first oil change at 102 miles with the Castrol to get the initial break-in glitter out. Did the final break-in oil change with Mobil 1. I'll run the Mobil 1 for the summer riding season.

Whoops! The Honda oil is 10W-30. My mistake!!!!

How do you like that Motoz GPS tire on the Africa Twin? How many miles do you have in it?
I really like these Motoz Tractionator GPS 50/50 tires! Almost 3100 miles on them. Hardly any wear. A great road tires on highway & two lane twisties dry or wet! Gravel roads they really grap well. No mud experience, but in sand they are so so. Dry off road not bad at all. And quiet to boot on pavement compared to a more agreesive style tires I've had in past. Thinking about putting a pair on my Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE next year when my original Metzler Tourance wear out.
 
I've tried 10w40 in all of my Sportbikes, but find they run and shift better with the higher viscosity. Particularly on hot days when ridden more aggressively, the Bi-directional Quickshifters shift noticeably smoother.
I think it's common knowledge among folks that have gone through decades of oil that the heavier oil holds up better and offers better shifts, despite what a certain person continues to perpetuate on the Forum lol. Shift quality is not a study, it is an art. I run 20w50 in my ZRX 1200 for that exact reason. 10w40 even though it holds grade over 5000 miles, doesn't offer the smoothness from the get-go as the syrup butter of 20w50 compared to the 3.2 beer consistency of 10w 40. Worrying about less than one MPG difference based on my studies over 40,000 miles, is a Fool's argument. But the fools only have that to stand on, that someone will listen.
 
'23 Genuine Buddy 170...@ 350 miles on the odometer; favorite shop did oil change...gave them a qt of Amsoil synthetic 15w-40 diesel oil (leftover new stock) & bought a HiFlo Filtro HF183 from them

New guys can become mesmerized by the ball bearings in test tubes of oil pics, and grossly out of date oil chemistry charts. :sneaky:

You mean no fuel consumption change with 20W50 ?
 
The bike gets 50 to 51 MPG in regular riding. The oil weight hasn't made a notable difference over many riding seasons and comparing running 10w40 versus 20w50.
Some times I wonder why HONDA recommend 10W30 and don't care about engine longevity.
That's a reason mention an example on another post...
XR650L (the same engine from 90's and today recommend 10W30, for environmental health and fuel economy... If engine wear shorter time doesn't matter... As a company I say 10W30 to all)
I will try 20W50 next time on my FMX 650.
