I didn’t see one of these types of posts for marine.

1990 Mastercraft Prostar 190 w/ Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission.

Out: unknown fluid
In: 1.5 qts of Valvoline Dexron III

There is so little needed, 1-2 QTs/year I buy the manufacturer's OEM gear oil. Walmart is selling some OEM marine products, so is Amazon.

When I had a Mercruiser it was Mercruiser snot green premium gear oil.

Yeah, it’s such a small amount. The interval, according to the manual, is 1000 hrs. At the boats current rate, once every 40 years 😂. But it’s so cheap to do and so easy.

The Valvoline is what my local Walmart had. I was anxious to get the boat out on the water for the first time, splurged on it over the out of stock SuperTech.

I think yearly is best. Doubtful the gear oil is no longer good to use but draining it allows one to check for water in the gear oil. I suppose you could check for water and then reuse but why?
