Post your latest HDEO change

Ok, while not an oil change yet.... I found a mangers special for oil at a local gas station. It was a year old so they were moving stock. 36 bucks snagged me 12 litres of group 4 based 0w40. This is the same Co-op DMO that I have been using for years. With filter, the next change on my 2017 6.7 Cummins will cost 50$.

Now, gents, I am not sure how I feel about this. Using a 40 weight oil? Its bad enough my current 6.7 brew is partially 40 weight....
40 weight is the way to go in your 6.7L. In Sask, you want a 0 or 5w40, like you found. Should be good to go.

If you're really not sure about how you feel about it, just package it up and ship it on down to me. I'll run it and let you know how it goes in 6.7L Cummins

Just did my 2008 Duramax. It's new to me, didn't know it's history, and had 178k miles so went ahead and did the diffs, transfer case, engine, and today did my first drain and fill on the transmission. Everything Amsoil. Fantastic truck. Find myself driving it over my Grenadier most the time. Bought it to replace a truck that had an accident. Use it to haul boats/trailers/trash and do all the jobs I wouldn't do with my Grenadier. I have to say the filter from Amsoil is very robust.

Seemingly should probably be placed somewheres in that sentence.

Project RTV900 is wrapping up after swapping the engine, the engine has about 600 hours, the chassis about 1000 hours. A few more things to button up, bad weather will delay things but expecting first start mid-late next week. This machine is a keeper for the ranch.

Project RTV 900 is finished. It runs excellent and did great on a long offroad test drive. Need to do HST maintenance with fluid and filters, the front axle, differentials, brake fluid. Nearly everything works, aux lights, winch, windshield wipers, except the AC and old stereo. I'm probably not bothering with either. The heater blower motor has some crunchies in it.

I'm thinking over expanding the dump bed (not yet reinstalled) a good 12 inches for more capacity and weld in reinforcement.

I see your vehicle cover is still standing. Most of them around here are on the ground or laying on the vehicles that were parked under them. Lots of roofs collapsed under the weight of the ice.
If you fix the a/c and stereo, I might be interested in trying to rent it to live in lol.

Look out for trees too, 2021 ice storm here damaged several, took months to cleanup.

It looks like a tornado came through here. A big one. I took my tractor and worked about a half a mile of the road coming through here clearing limbs and trees just to be able to get out. No electricity since noon Saturday. Entergy hopes to have it back on by 10 pm this Saturday.

No not really.

Virgin Amsoil EA15K13 C&P - It Ain't Pretty

Look I'm not hating on them. Amsoil has been my go to in gear oil forever. I always wanted to try their engine oils but I'm too cheap. Recently I was thinking about stocking up and switching over to their engine oil and bypass oil filters. Then I saw all this mess above and also just the shambles that the oil filter industry seems to be in right now. Lot of stuff going on. No real consistency. The only consistent thing is that everybody currently feels the need to cut open virgin filters to see what they are working with. The trust level is pretty dang low.

Not quite HDEO but Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 into my OM642 diesel, after changing the oil filter housing to block gasket. Also added a high temperature high strength magnet to the drain plug.

2017 Ram 2500. 143k kms on truck, 15,800kms on oil. Rotella T6 5w40 and Mopar filters since new. Doing UOA as well, first one since deleted so curious how it looks. Have carried out one UOA prior after 22,500kms with emissions on and oil was in not bad shape. Less towing these days so will have shorter OCI, especially since we just purchased a new vehicle (‘26 Volvo XC40) to replace current wife’s vehicle - 2010 VW Tiguan. As long as our soon to be 16 year old daughter doesn’t drive the VW too much, I’ll use it instead of the truck a bit, especially during cold weather.
