I couldn't find a thread for this in the HDEO section so I wanted to start one. I suppose it would be good for anything using HDEO including gasoline engines where it is being used. I'll start with my most recent:

2000 Mack DM690S Dump truck, unknown interval
Out: Unknown oil, Mack filters
In: 8 gallons Schaeffer 15w40, 1 gallon Schaeffer 132 oil treatment, 2x Mack 21939298 full flow filters, 1x Mack 85136709 centrifugal filter

Next interval will be 250 hours. I will pull a sample at that OCI and see what it shows. Hoping for 500 hours on this combination.

I got one:

Volkswagen jetta 2014 2.0, 5,000 miles

last fill was castrol gtx 15w40 at 112,000 miles with a wix filter

current fill is rotella t4 15w40 at 117,800 miles with a fram ultra filter

current odometer is at 119,241 miles, might let the oil run for 129 to 131,000 miles for science.

I changed the oil on my Trailblazer on May 25th, and will probably do so again around May-June 2022
"2008 TrailBlazer 4.2L 175591mi ~3000mi on oil ~6000mi on filter
Out: 5qt 5W30 RGT + 2qt 5w40 Delo 400LE XG9837 OFF
IN: 7qts 2015 vintage Rotella T6 0w40 + New XG9837
I'll try to run the oil more than 3000mi this time, it'd been in the engine 8 months and I was bored probably didn't need to change on it but here we are."

I didn't want to start a whole new thread on this..... But if Diesel and European formulated oils are better, and so much more, "heavy duty", why not use them for everything? Diesels have high compression that places greater loads on connecting rod and crankshaft bearings. And the Europeans are famous for driving 300 MPH on the Autobahn for days on end.

So why are we screwing around with all of these "normal" oils for our puddle jumpers?

I have used 15W40's in the Firebird in my signature and I can say that I do indeed like it in this engine..
Although I have to say that my last HDEO OCI was a Frakenbrew of leftover quarts from a buddy of mine who gave me several of his straggler qts of HDEO oils, all being different brands(some were partial qts) but enough to do a full OCI in this car. I ran them for ~1000 miles and changed to my current OCI using, RGT 5W30.

Don't mix up Germany that has some "no speed limit highways" with Europe... My version of Europe is stupid limited speed with 50 speed radars placed to trick you whenever possible (like just after a speed limit change sign) :D

A long time ago I read something about diesel oil less suitable for high rev engines? Like more clinging, more foam? Is this old wives tales?

I bet she purrs on that 5w40! I use Schaeffer 5w40 in my Toyota Tercel

When I had the mix of 5W30 and 5W40 in there, I had a guy change out my transmission filter and pan, and he was surprised at how quiet my car was, although maybe he's just not used to the 07+ Trailblazers that have a basic thermal clutch for the fan vs electro viscous, maybe the electro viscous is louder, plus I replaced my power steering fluid with Prestone Full Synthetic Power Steering fluid and added a bottle of Lubegard to it, plus I have all new serpentine belt drive components.
Sometimes when it idles, since it only idles at 600rpm and the straight 6 is so smooth, I can't even tell that the car is on if the radio or the blower is running, sometimes I turn the car on and thing it didn't start.

Those straight 6s were really good engines in my experience. They took a lot of abuse and always came back for more. I have done a few radiators and fan clutches on those but not a lot of other stuff.

I think I'm 16,000km into my latest oil change on my 2017 Ram 3500 CTD. Federated Co-op DMO 10w30 conventional CK4. Baldwin BT7349 oil filter. Manual calls for 24k changes but I probably will go to 30.

Posted in the PCMO thread, but thought I would post here as well as I am using an HDEO:

04 Grand Caravan w/ 3.3L V6 207K. 1k OCI. Got the itch to run some cleaner through it as it never took long for the oil to get dark.

Out: 4qts Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w-40 + 1qt Lucas PSOS and K&N HP-2004 filter
Added Motor Medica Synthetic Engine flush and used according to directions, drained the oil.

In: Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40 + STP High Mileage Oil Treatment and K&N HP-2004 Filter.

GMC Envoy Denali 5.3L V8 230k
5K OCI.

In: Motor Medic Engine Flush and ran according to directions

Out: 6qts frankenbrew 5w-40 and Purolator Boss PBL14006 + engine flush
Came out blacker than black

In: 6qts frankenbrew 5w-40 and Purolator Boss PBL14006

Had some partial containers of 5w-40 sitting around so I combined them to get them used up.

2019 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn 6.7 Cummins
60k HARD miles
Napa 15W40, Napa Gold 7620

Best friends truck, anything he owns he just uses and abuses lol. Been running 15W40 since its new despite Ram only calling for 10W30 and 5W40 in the 2019+, I finally convinced him to go with 5W40 Rotella on the next oil change and here on out after I showed him the TSB regarding against running 15W40 in these engines due to the newly designed valvetrain.
