I posted this in automotive oil just to break the monotony but thought this would be nice to track all the new packaging and viscosities being used.

2018 Toyota Tacoma
Out 4 Qts 75w85 factory fill. 60,800 miles Came out nice and golden. And fast

In went Valvoline 75w90 synthetic GL5 from handy squeeze bags. These were indeed easy to use.

I have to wait on the front diff I need a bigger hex head. The way the old fluid looked and as little residue as was on the magnetic plug, I am not worried.

thrifty thought. Save a couple of these squeeze bags. Isn’t it odd that bags in boxes are cheaper but these cost more for gear oil?

Is this a new thread ?

Cool … I tend to do diffs and xfer case at the same time (while on 4 ramps) …
Yeah I will do the front diff and xfer at same time Still looking into my transfer fluid case options. (same reason I didn’t use 75w85($$))

Yeah … I put a semi in the front of the Tahoe and synthetic in the rear. Think I’ll wind up doing that in the Rubicon as well … (have conventional F/R now because they tend to shed metal a while) …

I bought a gallon of PEAK 80W90 LS from PepBoys on closeout for ~$10(a few yrs ago) and recently used it in the rear differential of the Firebird in my signature.

Ram in sig, transfer case drained at 40k of the BW unicorn tears, filled with Redline D4.
Both axles were done at 20k, going to leave them alone for a while, 60k or until start towing/hauling heavy. I do pull the plug and clean the magnets at least every oil change though.

These threads are stupid. Reminds me of a bunch of 11 year olds saying, "show me your latest marble". Why the hell would anyone care about what some stranger put in their car?
Well, if someone makes a mistake, then perhaps I can learn from them and not make the same mistake.
Call me stupid, I guess.

But at least I don't waste my time reading about things I consider stupid...

Someone needs a nap.

Far from stupid. I read every thread like this that I see created, to get an idea about who's using what, and why, or what product sucks, and why. I rather learn from the guys on this forum, than through trial & error. I only start with what's recommended in the owner's manual, then I use real world info to improve upon it, if possible.

Kinda what this forum is for, no?

2000 Mack DM690S 44k Mack rear ends
Out: I have no idea, some form of mineral gear oil. Actually looked pretty good.
In: MFA 75-140 synthetic (will switch to Schaeffer after I have all of the other kinks worked out with the truck.
6 gallons in the front differential and 5 in the rear. Trucks are expensive to work on.

2017 Tahoe 4WD - AAM/Eaton rear end … 53k with 36k/36 months on lube
Out: Delvac 1 75W90 … in with same … Oil looked pretty good for longer run

I just did my mom's 2015 Kia Sorento. 106k miles, both factory fill. Valvoline 75w90 GL5 went in both. Next time, I will try to be a good son a lot sooner.
