In: 1.3 qts Honda Genuine Dual Pump Fluid II

2016 Frontier 19,450 miles

Out: Factory fill, front and rear.

In: Valvoline Synpower 75w-90.

I purchased my truck earlier this year with 81k miles and had the best of intentions, but just now getting to change out the diff fluid and transfer case fluid. I still didn't get the front diff done before I ran out of time.

2013 F150 4x4 @ 91k miles

9.75" rear diff with 3.55 E-locker

Out: (?) I thought it was probably factory fill but only a little fuzz on the magnetic fill plug. Gray (or is it grey?) colored fluid, anyway.

In: Mobil 1 75W-140

Also changed the transfer case fluid

Borg Warner (model # unknown in my little mind)

Out: nice red fluid (possibly factory fill)

In: Valvoline Transfer Case fluid (Valvoline's product for Ford XL-12 / GM Autotrak II)

Amsoil and Redline were fairly priced and known for excellent performance, but I wanted to try something different and someday post UOA results. I have M1 75W-90 for the front diff, just need to find the time to get it put in.

Edit- I used a Felpro gasket for the rear diff cover. $10 well spent.

10-30-2017 Front & Rear Diff on my 2004 Titan with 185k on her. I had vented the rear diff 5 years ago which is helping with the seals not blowing out but the REAR was chunky, even had to poke around to make sure all the chunks made it out. NO metal but maybe my vent is letting moisture in. Checking it again this week. Transfer case was 8k miles ago and still looking good. I used WM products since most are produced by known companies.

08 Chevy Colorado 86k miles
Out: factory fill
In: ST 80w90 (had some left over in my garage) will Change it to 75w90 synthetic when the truck is at 100k miles

Back in 1986 when the axle shaft seals needed replacing. Otherwise I just make sure the gear oil is topped off. I won't do a total change out on what is probably the toughest component on the vehicle. If I would have to open the differential up for repairs, I would replace the lube at that time.

Changed fluid in my LSD on the Gen Coupe, 87717 miles. Third change.

Out 1.4L of Red Line 75w90 GL-5
In 1.4L of Red Line 75w90 GL-5

31682 miles on oil.

2008 Toyota Tacoma, 114,500 miles: open front differential, Mobil-1 75W-90, GL-5. Rear Differential w/Detroit True/trac, Traveller (Tractor Supply) 80W-90, GL-5 which is a mineral base oil, without friction modifier/LS additive, as recommended by Eaton. 30,000 on front diff. since change and 100 miles on mineral base in the rear. I just installed the True/trac.

Saturday morning after coffee, I'll be doing the 16 SuperDuty rear diff. 31,500 miles on factory fill.
LubeLocker gasket, aluminum cover, and I'll make a choice between AmSoil Severe Gear and Schaeffer 75w140.
I've got both, had the Schaeffer, could not pass on the AmSoil closeout at Farm and Home for 11.00 a quart.

As planned. 2016 F250, common 12 bolt Ford rear end. Installed a Ford aluminum cover,ARP bolts, LubeLocker gasket and Schaeffer 75w140.

2016 Subaru Forester with CVT. 27500 miles accumulated.

Out-Factory fill

In-Schaeffers 75w-90. Front and rear diffs needed a total of near 3 quarts.

I didn't have a proper 3/8 or 1/2 in. extension so I had to improvise for the front diff. Not fun! Next time, in about 5 years, it will be easier!

1995 Chevy G20 350 V8 auto
3.42 gears
125k miles

Out: Factory fill 80w-90 that was leaking
In: Carquest 80w-90 Gl-5
New Felpro cover gasket

The other day I did the rear diff on my Ram 3500 with the 11.5 AAM. 42,XXX KM.
Out: factory fill. Apparently 85 weight oil that poured out like water and was quite foamy after a brief 2 mile drive to warm it up some (didn't really warm up at all).

In: Co-op SL gear oil. 80w140. Made in Canada full PAO based. Worked wonderfully in my old 2011 RM 1500.

Just in time for the wife to do a 3,000 km round trip with the horse trailer through the rockies.

2007 Acura MDX with 80k miles.
Just did the transfer case with 80w90 hypoid oil and the rear diff. with Acura DPSF fluid. I did the transmission last year.
Cheap $4 pump from Walmart in the outboard motor section worked very well.
Both old fluids came out nice and clean. Probably the first time (we bought the car CPO with 30k miles) this car has had these fluids changed.

1941 Packard 120...easy peazy, same gear oil used in manual steering box, transmission, factory Borg-Warner R9 overdrive, and rear end all get Valvoline 85-140. Same gear oil was drained.
