Out: Valvoline High Performance (white bottle) 80W-90, in use for ~12k miles
In: Mobil 1 75W-90
The fluid looked amber and clear draining from the differential, but in the drain pan it looked clear and greyish. I didn't snap a picture. Is there any significance to this color?

The grey color is from iron wear. You will almost always see some when draining gear oil.
2000 silverado 5.3l z71, Mobil 1 75w90 front diff, rear diff, GM auto-trac 2 for transfer case. Thanks god for drain and fill plug on these, got all done under under 1 hours.

Out: Unknown, but had been changed previous by the city that had owned it (I think? I saw mention in a work order that friction modifier was added at one point. There was a paper gasket on the pumpkin, so that leads me to believe the cover has been off before.
In: 2 qts. (or until it comes out of the fill hole) of Redline 75w90 synthetic Gear Oil with a Victor gasket and Permatex 2b sealant.
94 Ranger 5spd 4x4. Ford in its wisdom has no diff drains. Stuff in there was looking OK, just low. I topped off diffs with Auto Zone 80 w90, used about 2 qts between them Front diff gasket is weeping.

Most GM and Chrysler rear axles don't have drain plugs either, you are expected to remove the pan gasket every time.
