2015 Subaru WRX
Cabin Air Filter
Out: Potauto with 18,300 km
In: Ecogard Premium XC36115
The Potauto filter was weighed before and after use. It picked up 5.6 g of dirt and debris. I did remove it once or twice to knock out some of the bigger debris. I'm not sure what to do with this information since I have no idea what the holding capacity of a typical cabin filter is. I'm sure it could have gone longer.
The Ecogard seems to flow a bit better than the used Potauto filter, and it's got a MERV 12 efficiency rating, which is pretty good.
Engine air filter
Out: AC Delco A3109C with 25,000 km
In: OEM Subaru (Denso)
This filter was changed a couple of years ago. The media was still pretty clean, but half of the pleats were packed with bugs. I installed some insect screening over the intake when I installed the new filter. I checked the new OEM filter after 6,000 km and there was minimal debris in the pleats and it had only picked up around 3.5 g of dust. I don't plan on touching it again for at least another 50,000 km.
The AC Delco filter didn't seal perfectly, and there was evidence of dust getting past the seal on one corner, and the airbox was a bit dusty inside. The plastic frame of the filter wasn't very flat and the diameter was a bit narrower the the OEM filter in one direction. This engine will only get OEM air filters from now on.
