I want to start a riot here so here goes. 3 months ago I took my 19 year old UNWASHED/ WAXED car to get a replacement tire . Being it's got 250k miles on it, and who knows how much longer it will last, I decided not to buy a new tire and go for a used one. I went to a place in town who had a selection of miscellaneous used tires for sale. I followed the guy back to the area where my size tires were stored. I picked out on that had just a bit more tread by eye, then the others I had. Had the guy mount and balance the tire, and trash the old one. It was a Cooper tire same size as the other tires on the car which were Hancook brand. It went on the front driver side. It had a date code of 2015. Now I don't drive as much as I used to these days so it works for me. I couldn't believe the difference on how it rode. As good as a new tire would have in my book. It has raised white letters on the sidewall and if you didn't know the difference, you couldn't tell they don't all match. And the best part of the whole transaction, it only cost $50 for the tire and install. It probably will outlast the life of the car. Sure I could have spent $150 for a new tire, but if the trans went on it a week later, the only deal to be had would have went to the guy who bought the tire from the junkyard.,,
