Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

Huge hit.
Reason: My Son is in Summer Camp now and like Kindergarten starting in August (and unlike his preschool), parents need to form a line in their cars at drop off/ pick up. Lot's of idle time. So the Sonata has gone from low 30s and high 20s to....

2023 Sonata 2.5L (Dual injection):
22.8 mpg

2022 Palisade 3.8L (GDi):
19.7

'18 HYUNDAI Accent SE : 1.6 Ltr. (G.D.I.) w/ 6 speed auto . Driving Mix : 65(H) / 35(C) . Avg. Temp : 58 . Avg. Speed : 46 . 4 185/65-15 GENERAL Altimax RT43 (H) @ 35 P.S.I.. Oil/Filter : 3.6 quarts CASTROL Edge Advanced w/Titanium full synthetic (S.P..GF-6A) w/ FRAM Titanium FS9688 . The AVG. MPG display ( BELOW ) is usually off by 3.5 m.p.g. ( on avg. ) of the calculated gas mileage ( BELOW ) .
So , 42.9 ( display ) - 39.42 ( calculated ) = 3.48 M.P.G. difference .

Start of NEW tank : The actual gas mileage is likely hovering around 43 m.p.g. since AVG. MPG display is off on a average of 3.5 M.P.G.. The fuel gauge is also very quick to drop after a fill . Don't remember past vehicles that did this . The '13 HONDA Fit base is the opposite .

Fill up at Phillips 66 used TT 87 octane e10.
400 miles of the 499.7 were hwy driving
499.7 miles / 12.422 gallons = 40.2 MPG
Prices started to go up this morning about 25¢ so I filled it up while out running errands.

2018 GTI Autobahn DSG. I do drive it hard when I get a good spot, but most of my driving is vastly highway between 60-78mph. I calculate it every time I fill up. The last time the car claimed a stellar 35.7mpg, but I got a much more realistic 34.3mpg. I have gotten as high as 35mpg calculated when I was driving to and from the Twin Cities last year. This car is much better on gas than I expected. I was still getting 31-32mpg with cold, but with it not having remote start I never let it sit and idle long in the cold.

See post #191 of this thread for representative mileage.

Yesterday with the Ranger's (4.0l SOHC, 4.10 gears) box fully loaded with firewood:
238 miles / 12.042 US gallons = 19.76 mpg.

A neighbor cut up and split a fallen tree and I delivered it to old folks who need it.
I feel so altruistic today.

Tomorrow I fit the 19 year old girl with new oxygen sensors.
I'll post back.

Any guesses on the approximate improvement in mileage?

2001 Mitsubishi Montero 3.5 v6, 5speed auto, 4.30 diff gears, 15.7 mpg 75% highway, 15% country roads, 10% city.

If i take it offroad i get like 11mpg

Actual gas mileage on my last three cars has been around 5% lower than the cars' computers displayed. Must be some kind of virus, because we know auto manufacturers wouldn't intentionally miscalculate to deceive us.

03 Civic:
last 12217.6 miles took 395.361 gals of gas = 30.9 MPG.
I did a mostly highway trip of 91.4 miles recently. Used 2.383 gals = 38.4 MPG.

18 CRV:
last 27528.8 miles took 972.746 gals = 28.3 MPG.
best tank was on a roadtrip. 316.6 miles used 8.778 gals = 36.1 MPG.

2005 GMC Yukon Denali 6.0 V8...Driver Information Center calculated 14.2 mpg while using the fill up and miles travelled I calculated 13.7 mpg for it's first tank full under my ownership...mostly around town driving but maybe 1/3 highway miles...

1st tank of the Vacation trip to SW Mo. and the Eureka Springs AR area. Filled up at Conoco in Neosho Mo with 87 octane TT E10. Almost all hwy driving of all sorts in very hot 100° +weather.

494.4 miles/12.384 gallons = 39.92 MPG

Happy with the mileage considering the conditions.

Today I drove 208.5 miles from the SF Bay Area to Sparks, NV. A lot of it was uphill, through and over the Sierra mountains. The Camry achieved 36.08 mpg which surprised me. The last time I made the trip I achieved just a bit more than 31 mpg. This was calculated manually.

From Arkansas to Arlington, Va.
I’m sure that it’s off by a mile or two, but this car gets great fuel mileage for a mid-size sedan. When it’s up to speed, it cruises in 8th or 9th gear depending on the terrain. It bounced around a bit through Virginia, but settled on 36.6 MPG when we pulled into the hotel parking garage.

I thought I'd post an update for my 2020 CX5 Grand Touring 2.5L NA AWD

Approximately 30k miles.

Running average as calculated by the Fuelly App: 24.3 MPG (As of 7/4/2023)

Highest mileage (during a road trip) 32.2 MPG.

My per-tank use varies wildly, sometimes as much as 80% city driving, sometimes its 80%+ highway. That I like to get fun Skyactiv engine revs up does *not* help my mileage, though. 😁

I do know (from some duration testing) that if I'm lighter with the throttle on the highway, 30mpg isn't difficult to hit. I wish city mileage were a little better, but that's AWD for you.
