Pay no attention to the city/highway split… don’t really mess with that

You can argue with it, but in the end, you can't fight physics. This was the weekend trip up to the lake and back for us towing the new travel trailer. Regardless of the engine size, transmission, tires, etc, you still have to drag something billboard-like through the air, and that eats fuel.

I wasn't driving the speed limit (70) most of the way. I set the cruise on 65-68 for most of the interstate driving.

I don't have pictures but every hand calculation I've done on the GTI has come up between 32-33 mpg. It appears I do enough highway to cancel out any of my full throttle antics.

2022 Hyundai Accent:
Only 200 odo miles - 38 mpg

2022 Hyundai Palisade:
22 mpg

The display of the ACCENT could be off up to 4 m.p.g. over the calculated gas mileage . You can see that in the posts for the '18 Accent . Still not shabby for both cars .

2018 2.5i Outback 30.0mpg
90% rural with my wife doing most of the tank and me towing our small utility trailer for the last 60 miles but that doesn't effect much. AC on for most of it too.
Seems to be our summer average.
2006 Focus wagon mtx 33.6mpg 90% rural, about the average summer tank with AC on.

My Lincoln Aviator with the twin-turbo V-6 gets maybe 20mpg on the highway and lower teens in the city. I do however carry about 200 pounds of equipment. Luckily I don't pay for the fuel unless I use the vehicle privately which I avoid unless I have to haul cargo or people.

The Cooper S with the 1.6 liter I4 gets in the upper 30s on the highway and mid to upper twenties around town. If I put my foot down I still get in the mid to upper 20s on the twisties.

The 1980 Rabbit gets in the lower 30s combined and that's with a stroked engine and Stage 2 intake.

'18 Hyundai Accent SE : 1.6 Liter w/ 6 speed auto . Driving Mix ( Hwy. / City ) : 65/35 . Avg. Temp : 66 . Avg. Speed : 46 . Fill of summer blend Top Tier (?) 93 w/E10 @ 1 click . Start of next tank included .

To forte will honestly pull a solid 34 to 35 on the highway in six gear with the AC on….. 36 without.

But it will also drop as low to 21 - 22 mpg exercising the RPM range and shifting frequently with ac on blast 😆

Current avg currently is 24.7 mpg at 25 mph

Not great but my commute is also not favorable.

Not calculated, however I took the Jeep on a 150ish mile trip this past weekend, resetting the overhead computer as I merged onto the highway. I haven't reset my average for several months, and it had settled in the 15.2-15.4 range in my mix of driving. After my trip, I was showing an average of 18 flat, which consisted of full A/C use both ways, some heavy idle time in traffic, and 75ish MPH cruise speeds. I was also facing 20mph head winds on my way home.

Not scientific, but not bad for 245k.

Fillup up the Maverick at Casey's. They had a good price on mid-grade 89 octane E10, plus I used 91¢ in grocery stores rewards. Paid $3.119 after rewards. 565.6 Miles / 13.387 gallons = 42.2 MPG

Average MPG since new 42.2 MPG

.
