Post apocalypse oil and filter choice MADMAX style

I'm big fan of MadMax post apocalypse vehicles type. This movie was one of the reason why I love older v8 muscle vehicles.

While watching some old mad max engine build. I came up with this crazy idea and imagination. What you guys oil and filter choice that will survive the post apocalypse scenario type. Where oil never gonna get change or filter. drive cross the wasteland… in 100+ degree weather.

My oil choice would be Mobil Delvac 15w40 with K&N oil filter.

This just for fun topic.

When in a post-apocalytic world, fuel is the most sought after resource (in the movies more so than food and water) I question the reasoning for wanting a supercharged V8 engine in a car.

a prius is likely getting you further and for a longer time, as much as it pains me to admit it.

Well, it's kinda moot if the engine will "never" get on OCI or FCI ... because it's likely to result in the death of the engine at some point no matter what oil/filter is selected.

HPL PPCEO 5w-30 paired with an ol'skool Fram Ultra in a Ford Panther with 4.6L 2v (the proverbial cockroach of vehicles; hard to kill them and tolerant of a lot of abuse).

Mechanical diesel would be your friend, easier to refine in gastown. I would have already raided Fleetguard and Supertech warehouses. We dont need fancy junk when it'll just burn nicer in the tank.

Nice idea. Some “ System 1 “ racing oil filter, those can be reclean and reuse.

This is the answer, I bought a stainless Scotts filter for my KTM when I bought it. I went stainless for two reasons, no risk of collapse which had happened in a few 1290's and the supply line was still under the influence of covid with occasional outages on paper cartridges; one I could refresh with some brake cleaner solved both problems.

In this scenario, the oil used is going to be sourced from the local airport in 2 1/2 gallon jugs or 55 gallon drums. So it will be Aeroshell 100 (50 viscosity) or a similar Phillips product like 25W-60. Plenty viscous to hold up to days racing across the desert.

If it's post apocolyptic, the drum in my shed marked "sasha gray blend" will probably be as good as anything, and replicated from mostyl empty receptacles.

My desert cruiser would be my 2008 3/4 ton CIA Suburban with a 6.0 using any 5w40 I could find in the looted Walmarts. Currently I run Pennzoil Euro 5W40. Filter would be any type of Fram I could find. I’d run my OCI at 20,000 miles and get three OCI’s in each filter.

My AC charge would be propane. I’m already using Red Tek, a propane/butane mixture.

Since the longevity of the truck even on a single oil will outlast your gasoline supply I would say any premium filter with a synthetic oil of small spead and high xoidation resitance.
Mobil 1 15w-50
Maybe a 40 weight Diesel oil
Or any full synthtic in 10w-30 (if u can find one)

In a mad Max scenario, primitive oil refining would probably be limited to pre-catalyst refining techniques, so the quality of the lubricating oil produced would be very low. It would be basically like running your vehicle on bar and chain oil as it would be sub Group I quality and without additives or viscosity modifiers.
