Used STP S7317 oil filter cut open

Just removed the cheap STP S7317 oil filter off of my 2012 Armada. This was my first oil change after purchasing the vehicle. This would NOT be a filter I would ever use.

192k miles on the vehicle, unknown number of miles on the oil / filter. Unknown type of oil - guessing something cheap.

I did run Amsoil Engine Flush for 15 minutes before doing the change. Oil on the dipstick wasn’t too dark or dirty looking prior to the flush. Post flush I could see a lot of stuff in the oil. Filter seems to have also collected some gunk / dirt or carbon. Didn’t see anything that sparkled so that is good.

That looks almost like a Fram PH7317. What's that on the inner base plate is that rust or sludge?

Nothing wrong with STP filters IMO. Looks good

It’s cheap cardboard end caps. From what I could tell there was just some dirty oil on it, consistent with the dirty oil in the rest of the filter.

A 5000 mile filter that gives you 95% efficiency at 25 to 30 microns an expensive rock catcher!

Nothing wrong with STP filters IMO. Looks good
