Hello, I have just purchased a set of 4 G-Power NGK plugs from Amazon and I had a suspicion they make be counterfeit because of the profile of the center electrode tip. Everything else seems legit, but the electrode tip is a different shape than any pictures I can find of G-Power plugs on the internet. The only 1 picture I found that had the different shaped electrode like mine was from Napa. These ones are assembled in Thailand from parts made in Thailand and Japan, so maybe it’s a recent change in the plugs from Thailand as opposed to made in Japan?
Possible fake NGK BKR5EGP plugs from Amazon. Help!

It the price was too good to be true, it probably was. I won't buy plugs from Amazon.

It looks like they might have taken a plain old copper plug and machined down the center electrode to make it look like a thin wire type.

Scamazon seems to be 70% fakes these days and the company doesn’t care.
I got some fake DW-1 Honda atf years ago. Seller had good reviews and everything but once i opened the bottles the smell was way off from the dealer purchased fluid, almost like turpentine. That was the last time I’ve bought anything there.

I stopped buying any watch battery or CR2032 type cells from Amazon. They might not have been fakes, but they lasted 1/3 or 1/2 as long as I usually experienced. Old stock?

I did. I got fakes that lasted 20k miles before CEL for misfires. Bit the bullet and bought replacements at AutoZone.
The center electrode of your plugs is wider and fatter compared to that in pictures in the NGK website.....
Did you use the QR code to verify? I know fake NGK plugs exist.. But I have a hard time believing there is much of a business case on plugs as cheap as the G-power... I'd wager they're legit and run them.

The platinum nub appears to be smaller. Is this a cost cutting measure?
The irony is, NGK gives great, detailed information telling counterfeiters how to make their knock-off plugs and what to do to make them appear as authentic as possible.
I think it’s unlikely that both Napa and Amazon would sell counterfeit NGK spark plugs with the exact same design.
