Why.
The oiled pump is way better. And if by chance some oil is vapourized and gets into the tank the air regulator is positioned up high so no oil can actually flow out of the hoses.

I make my living off of air compressors and tires require capacity and an oiled pump will last almost forever vs 100 running hours for an oil-less unit.

You will have oil and water dowstream if the air is not filtered a regulator to a hose should not be positioned on a tank no matter how high for clean water and oil free air.

This. There is a reason they sell oil separators. However, someome carrying a portable unit, where size and portability are key, may not affix the correct separator. Oil mist is a possibility. In a rubber tire? No thanks.

I agree that oiled compressors are better, but for me, a bicycle pump is a better bet.

I suspect that some people seeing tires rot from the inside out, may be due to compressor oil (just speculation).
