Pontiac Vibe - Manual Transmission

There's a 2005 Pontiac Vibe with a manual transmission on Craigslist for really cheap, but has 247k miles. I know these aren't good manual transmissions, but for $1,350 OBO what do you guys think? Car was side swiped, not awful but it isn't pretty. I don't care about looks.

If the transmission died would it be worth getting a used one and putting it in?

Not a problem where I live at all. No problem insuring either.

I just want a good on gas reliable car.

This car is really low in my budget, so I figure if it has any issues I'll have plenty of money left over for any repairs. I'm thinking this is a decent deal

This isn't a car you want to put any money into, it has high miles and the body is junk. This is something you put no money into and drive it until something major breaks then scrap it.

Bring cash and haggle. Its a good deal. But u will need money to change out all normal maintenance

oil and filter
MT fluid
coolant thermostat hoses belts
bleed brakes
air and cabin filters
PCV
spark plugs

And whatever else you can find on the Toyota vibe forums

+1 on the pass. I owned a 2003 vibe but it was an auto. I would say the gas mileage wasn't that great compared to other options.

A 10 year old car with almost a quarter of a million miles and a salvage title? A car that has obviously been poorly maintained and well beaten? From an ad doesn't even bother to show the interior, which "isn't all that great"?

Depends if $1350 is a lot of money to you.

Seems like a throw away car you change oil and drive until it breaks or you don't want to be seen in the thing(eg decent job parking lot).

the shifter is way up high on that car and it feels very wierd, i really disliked it. that said, it also has a temporary tag on it, probably curb stoned or a dealer selling it. move along.

That Accord seems like a steal, even at 16 years old. That car would fetch 3 times that where I am, and would have rust. Unless it has serious mechanical issues. If it wasn't clear on the other side of the country, I'd be checking it out myself.

Looks like the second ad was removed. The Corolla in the first is being sold at about the sketchiest car lot in town, I drove over there and wondered if I'd get shot lol!

I know it has tons of miles, but I figured if it was good til 300k then it would be worth it, but I guess I don't really feel like throwing a transmission at it.

I'm pretty much looking for Corollas or Camrys. Mostly because my previous Camry made me a Toyota fanboy.
