Oh, boo hoo! Try not to paint yourself as the victim.

I've read and re-read the original comment and I simply do not see the provocation. I see stuff on the internet all the time that I don't care for but I don't go to war over it.

I don't care for the looks of the car but that doesn't matter i do know a lot about its drive train and most of the issues related to it.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread so i'm done.

I like how you conveniently left out your response

Fair enough, you don't know if the IM gaskets have been done on it.

Your friend should make sure he has a lot of $$$ available to do repairs on this vehicle, because he will need it.

If he is getting the vehicle for free, then this is obviously a good deal..it just won't be a reliable one.

While this platform isn't exactly a model of reliability or solid engineering, it's really not any worse than most comparable vehicles. A 2003 Honda Oddity for example wouldn't get you any further ahead as far as reliability, but probably will cost more to buy and will strand you just as fast, likely with a much higher repair bill.

IM gaskets are not rocket science. If I had any interest in owning a 3.4L GM vehicle (I don't), that issue would not stop me. Known problem, known fix.

I don't like the U body platform and wouldn't own one, but to just say "it won't be reliable" is a little much.
