PF64 on sale

That pf64 is just a basic jobber filter afaik. Thinner can , nitrile adbv and gasket, lower efficiency media and less of it... It's a leftover Champ that is similar to a basic supertech .... your Microgard Select is $9.99 at Advance Auto under Carquest Premium paint and I think it goes even cheaper if you buy your oil there but if you just do very short oci's then yeah the pf64 will work but many of them have a leaking bypass fwir.

This isnt a screaming deal but not bad. I suppose its better than $11 what AZ charges. The risk of ordering these is they come dented up, which is common from amazon who is likely fulfilling these. I stopped buying from Amazon because of this. But I also felt sick paying $11 plus tax for this at AZ.
Last year I bought the fleet pack from RA, and the pricing was $3.27 a filter for a 12 pack (excluding shipping). These came in one big box with cardboard dividers, no boxes though. Already used 3, so I broke even. Every other oil change is a bonus.

As far as the build quality, I wouldn't call this a "jobber filter." The base supertech white can is the jobber version which also exists in other branding. This is an identical clone to the supertech MP filters that they used to carry. Same blue can. I've cut a number of these open, the build quality is great. My OCI is max 4-6k, and I never had an issue with the gaskets (which are wider than said white can) or the nitrile ADBV sealing oil. To me these are a no brainer while under engine warranty and much better filtration and build quality than some other OEM filters.
 
ACdelco and Champ claim lower efficiency media on pf64 compared to ChampXL and Supertech MP.. and it comes with nitrile adbv and gasket plus typical thin can.. plus regardless of build quality which MANY lower level Asian filters have incredible build but that doesn't change their category.

Supertech MP had upgraded media and silicone adbv (which pf64 has neither) but still sort of not quite at the level of more robust filters out there plus the question of the leaking leaf spring... I got the stock filter off our Yukon before 500 miles but mainly to get rid of the factory fill oil and any metallic particles. Replaced it with Carquest Premium.

That filter you linked isn't the same construction as pf64, I know because I compared them at walmart and C&Ps here. That filter is similar to the Supertech white can. The major differences are the gasket width and the internals, maybe the bypass too. That white filter has fiber endcaps, the PF64 doesn't. Acdelco and Supertech MP both rated at 99% at 30 microns. The only difference is the blue/purple silicone adbv. This is a pretty good rating compared to OEM filters from "asian" brands.

I went to pickup a pf64 at walmart today for the leased Equinox. As a few of you may know who are familiar with this filter line, the PF64 was updated multiple times. The most recent update changed the gasket width as well as some other features. I thought it was pretty wide already. Anyways, I decided to compare the new PF64 (the box with the Asian letters) to both supertech versions. The MP12060 was pretty much the exact same thing in terms of gasket width, construction, color, and overall weight of the can (aside from adbv).The ST12060 has the spec of the old version that's currently on...
 
I've held both in my hand and I can tell you it's the same filter, same media sans the adbv. I've also cut both myself. Multiple c&p posted show the same. Years ago, certain models both the white and blue super techs were the same construction except adbv (ST9688).
But if you want to infer a different media because of 0-1% difference in published stats, go ahead. I'm not gonna argue about two filters that are both discontinued anyway. My original point was both are very different construction from the champ/super tech jobber white can, and both have better filtration specs than "lower level Asian filters." The ACdelco pf64 is a decent filter for $4, I've been using them since 2019.
 
Look.. the MP is a 99% media filter and the PF64 is a 98% filter plus the MP has a silicone adbv so they aren't the same filter.
 
What's a jobber filter? A rebranded filter from someone else's job?

Also it's funny, the ACDelco meets OEM specs and using it probably won't make any appreciable difference in lifespan of the engine, yet I think since being on this forum I'm OCD about trying to do the best. $4 OEM vs $12 for MG select. Not a huge difference, since I'm saving probably 40 bucks on labor for the oil change anyways.

Yeah, no Advance Auto anywhere near me, unfortunately.

Also, weird, but on the premium guard website I don't see any extended life type filter. Just the standard filter that I think would be equivalent to the regular microgard.

Good call. I'll check it out.

Last time I did the O'Reilly oil and filter bundle the microgard cost extra because I think the free was only for filters up to 9.99. ended up paying a few cents more compared to just buying the oil from Walmart and the filter separately at full price.

Also currently have enough oil for 2 more changes that I was able to get on sale. So just really looking for a filter.

I usually go about 5k-6k and 8-9 months, depending on how much highway I'm doing.

Generally considered a minimum spec oil filter made and marketed to independent quick lube change establishments. Calling a AC/Delco oil filter a "jobber" filter is subjective as most OEM branded oil filters could be called the same as most OEM's do not spec high efficiency oil filters to begin with with. High Efficiency being more of a marketing thing to DIY end users in the aftermarket.
