What options are there now that PF64 filters are hard to find? Looking for something with good filtration efficiency at 20 micron, quality construction, good filter element material, and silicone ADBV? I didn't see an PG offerings on Rock Auto. I did see Wix, but I'm unfamiliar how they are.

Looking for a Cadillac CT5V Blackwing that I have coming.

Thanks

My walmart still has PF64 filters... have you checked yours? Main thing you want is a 22 PSI oil filter bypass setting that the PF64 does have. The filter should mount vertical if it is like most GM V8 so silicone ADBV is not necessary.

Ah yes, that appears to be the case. It is vertical. Any aftermarket filters that have 99% at 20 micron and the 22psi bypass setting?

WIX filters are now Mann+Hummel owned. The old Affinia designs are gone in favor of Purolator designs. I won't use them. There has been evidence of partially open louvers on the center tube and excessive glue that can come loose.
AC Delco is probably looking for a new supplier since FRAM/Champ Labs has gone under.

The Wix XP I got and returned was not like a Purolator in any way. They have a high published micron rating, higher than MG Select. Made in Mexico though, don’t want that. Purolator Boss I got, just got one more PBL 14476 for $4, are the ones for me. Came in perfect. Made in USA.

Thanks don’t know about the eco guard. No AAP near me so I’ll have to stick with the MGS or something similar. Was going to be able to find the PG full synthetics/extended life under their house brand or something similar in price/performance. Not a huge issue though.

How’s the flow/filtration on the eco guards?

I get it. And its bypass valve is 25 psi and not 22. But they do ship and I think if you want to get the filtration he's looking for, it's the best option.

Yes I had mentioned AAP to him way above about the Carquest Synthetic EP because it is the same price as the Carquest Premium if you buy your oil there but then he had responded that he doesn't have one around so I assumed he meant they are very far.

Yeah, I would have to order online. Not out of the question.
There's one NAPA nearby that does home delivery so that is nice. Is the NAPA gold a PG filter as well?

Your engine won’t know the engine between those two slightly different bypass settings. In fact for the first couple of years with my C7 I was using a Fram Ultra that had a bypass setting of 9-12 PSI and later they came out with a new part number which had the 22 PSI setting (the C7 uses the PF64 too)

Yes, the newer ones are. There might however be some older Mann+Hummel made ones floating around which will have louvers in the center tube instead of big holes.

I ordered the ACDelco PF64A which looks to be well made (in Thailand), and I should receive a couple Mahle OC1421 today (from reviews these seem to be good also).

They have these cool things called "trucks" that people will load the product onto it and it will be delivered right to your residence! It's pretty cool, imo.

yeah duh I was just relaying op message which could of possibly meant he was way too far but was unknown at that point.

But considering AutoZone, O'Reilly, NAPA and GM also have PG made filters, there are options to drive to.
