I understand many GM dealers in the US are now using Petro-Canada 10w-30 Synthetic Blend motor oil. I know the dealer I go to in Florida uses it as well. Their bulk tanks are all 10w-30 syn blend. Has anybody ever heard of this stuff. It seems like great oil from what I read about it. They also use it in vehicles that have 5w-30 requirements only.

Petro Canada makes a great product. I was not aware that GM dealers were using it. Maybe it's just a local thing. GM is in bed with Mobil in the USA.

By the way FranklinJ,

to BITOG.

Petro Canada is one of our largest gas station chains up here, you can't drive more than a few minutes without seeing one. In fact there are about 10 of them within a ten minute radius of my house! But yet the only place I've ever seen their motor oil is at the actual stations, and of course it's way overpriced there. I've heard a few people on this site say it's actually a very good oil, but I've yet to see anyone post a UOA from it yet.

Before I got addicted to BITOG I used to take my 01 Grand Prix GTP to the local GM Dealership. I asked what kind of oil they used and they said Petro-Canada oil. They tried to tell me that all there vehicles came from the Factory with Petro-Canada as the Factory Fill. Maybe thats only in CANADA.

I currently have dealership bulk Petro-Canada oil in my HHR. Based on the oil life monitor, it's holding up as well as the factory fill (Mobil) did.

What I don't know is how the bulk oil aligns to their retail bottled products (Maximum or Supreme).

The only place I have seen Petro-Canada synthetic and synthetic blend mentioned is at the Oil Changers chain of fast lube places in Ontario. They likely sell it at the actual Certigard repair centres if there happens to be one in your area.

you know what i seriously have never seen petro can oil in canada here! i only see it at the gas stations. It is way overpriced there

If you go to Lordco the AC Delco motor oil is Petro Canada.2 or 3 years ago it was for sale at Costco.I hope Costco will sell it again. It is good oil.

Used to use regular Petro-Can two-stroke oil in my mountain sled when I lived in B.C. once upon a time. It was cheap to buy in flats of twelve one litre containers from a Petro-Can bulk dealer. It really worked well given the cheap price point. Can't comment on their four-stroke products, however.

John.
