Pentius PLXL1495P disappointment

Taiwan ??.. where did that come from ??

I am the one who pointed that out in the first place.. VAFI is out of Vietnam and AFI is out of China. .. PG uses these.

Vietnam https://afifilter.com.vn/san-pham-cong-ty/

China http://www.afifilter.com/en/index.asp

What does that have to do with Pentius ?
First you say what does this have to do with PG, I explained same factories.

Now you say what does that have to do with Pentius. Again... same factories.

Make up your mind.

you "explained" same factories.. where is your explanation ??

you just say "same factories" without any proof ?

where is your proof that Pentius and PG products are coming out of the exact same factories ?

Think the one in China is actually known a CAFI ... C probably for China. V in VAFI for Vietnam.

From the bottom of your link to CAFI.

In a typical (if there's such a thing) automotive engine oil system, where is the filter in the grand scheme of things? What I've seen online showed the oil filter was after the pump, and oil then goes to the galleries. Does this mean these "holes", should they become dislodged, will end up somewhere in the engine and never make their way back to the sump? Or are there additional screens to prevent large particles from passing farther, like the screen in the sump before the oil goes to the pump?

Yes, if they came loose they would go into the oiling system, and could end up anywhere. You don't want anything coming off the oil filter (media, glue, hole chads, pieces of Ecore bars, etc) and going into the engine.

Every oil filter should be inspected before being put on, which includes looking down the center tube for anything abnormal.

To be honest, I'd rather have a few nonexistent slits over die-punched pegs that come lose, bouncing around the media with sharp edges.
Typically, if louvers are misformed it's more than just a few that are messed up. If the hanging chads came out of the holes they wouldn't be "bouncing around the media" ... they would be going into the engine oiling system.

Got a case of these recently and took a look inside. Not good...a bunch of the perforations were not completely knocked out of the center tube. I was able to dislodge them easily using a pencil, I would assume oil flow would have dislodged them as well.

Wow. I've never seen that before. Was this one filter, or were there more with the same issue?

I’m disappointed. Thanks for posting. Not good at all. Another example of why to inspect every filter before installation no matter the brand.

This seems to be the second Pentius with this problem I’ve seen online(no longer a one off). It will be interesting to see if a pattern develops or if it’s isolated.

How many are like this in the case?

Almost need a small angled magnet to run along the new ones before install. Scary that a sideview borescope is almost needed on them to check the ones closer to top.

If they came through, where would they lodge in the system? I haven't gotten that far on disassembling things like that in all my years. Would it at least be able to drop into oil pan and get caught by magnetic drain plug if you have one?

If you have clearance space would the spin on MagnaFilter catch that or is it like FilterMag or the small button magnets some here use which is on opposite (outside) of filter media?
