Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20, 2021 Ram 1500 3.6L E-Torque Pentastar w/ 63,381 miles, 11,313 Mile OCI

M1 ESP has been highly recommended. All things being equal, what’s the difference between M1 ESP and M1 ESP X2?
Well, not much equal between them. They carry different approvals. The X2 targets fuel economy, but it is still a stout oil.
I would go ESP 0W-30 in a Pentastar.

I often get told to run a heavier oil. By My father, in particular. We’d all run SAE50 in EVERYTHING if he was king of the world lol. I’m most worried about wear from the constant start/stop of the engine. Wouldn’t 0w20 get to the top of the engine quicker when warm than 0/5w30? I think that’s a bigger source of potential wear than anything. In fact, I’ve read that the start/stop and instantaneous acceleration was a big reason they dropped to 20w

I’m a bit apprehensive to run anything other than the 1 and only manufacturer spec oil for my truck, which is 0w20. They have some really smart engineers that sunk millions into designing this engine. I’m out of warranty soon, maybe I’ll try something different.

I have a very good friend that was an engine engineer at Cummins for a decade, and he is absolutely diehard that I should RTFM and follow it lol.
Well it's PP and it's running 9cSt at 100c so it's almost a 30 weight oil.
You know why the OEMs want everyone running a 20 weight oil don't you?
It's all in the name of the unholy quest for higher CAFE numbers.
About 80 years ago mechanic engineers figured out and all agreed that around 10cSt at operating temperature was the ideal viscosity for engine oil. Most engines run their oil about 95c to 110c so 30 weight oil is perfect. Some engines such as hard working diesels, air cooled and race engines get their oil significantly hotter than 110c so they'll run 40 and 50 weight oils so they'll be hitting that ideal 10 to 12cSt viscosity at a much higher temperature.

This one of those UOA's where if you kept doing this for thousands of miles it wouldn't surprise me if your engine starting consuming oil due to ring deposits. PP/PUP don't have the solvency to dissolve the deposits and can only mitigate them through oxidation control and detergents, which isn't enough IMO. Just my .02.

I can believe that with PP but not so much with PUP...........
