Use my current case of the Ultra 5W-40 at my next oil change in a month or two. Or buy some Ultra Euro 5W-30 for winter and save the 40 for next summer?

Decisions, decisions!

I thought about the same thing, I have around 20 qts of oil now-different brands and viscosities- but I am opting for PU 5W-40. NJ climate should not be much different from WI's.

My only concern about a 5W-40 in winter is my daily trips are only 7 miles each way and the 40 would take longer to heat up. Probably won't be a huge difference in warm-up since the 5W-40 is on the low end of a 40 grade and the 5W-30 is at the high end of a 30. I do more driving on the weekends though.

7 miles at what speeds?

25-35 mph for the first 7-8 minutes and then 45-55 for the next 7-8 minutes.

Just sent a followup email myself.

EDIT: And got an automated reply, she's on vacation until August 12.

Probably a permanent vacation after she gave away all that free oil!

You may be right. I just sent her a follow-up email last night and it bounced back.

Not sure when she started her vacation, but based on years of service, she gets between three and four weeks every year. She will be back on the 12th as her return reply states. And just remember when she gets back she will probably have somewhere around 1,000 emails to read (300 of them from BITOG) plus her other duties to catch up on.

Patience boys, patience.

Johnny, I didn't get a vacation reply. The email simply bounced. I received a failed delivery status notification from their postmaster - something you would typically receive if the user's account did not exist. Either that, or her mailbox is full. :)

I just sent her an email and this is the reply I received.

Subject: Out of Office AutoReply: Pennzoil Ultra Question

Hi, I am currently on vacation. I will be in an area of the United States where there is no/very limited cell phone and internet access. I will return to work on the 12 August. Kind regards, Debbie.

Well, that was quick.

FWIW, these aren't coming from SOPUS in Houston directly, they're coming from a marketing company in Wichita KS. I would fathom a guess they may have been given a number of pallets of this stuff to give out and Debbie is simply doing her job (and quite well)!

My thanks, Debbie and SOPUS. This will go into the NB next oil change.

I am planning on doing a VOA, but haven't gotten around to mailing the sample yet... it might just have to wait until I have others stuff to send at the same time (like my 10K UOA on GC).

Mayhaps I'll use one of my 'free' OA kits to go with this free oil.

I dunno. I waited for them to list a f/s link on the site, so I didn't bother to ask. Still there is no link and now it seems I got in too late to ask.

How is it that you got in too late? Have you been denied?

Certainly worth an email, IMO.

No, I sent an EM weeks ago. Said the same thing, I was waiting for the link to appear so I could do the no-shipping-charge purchase.

The link never appeared, so I went ahead in an email and said that I would like to purchase *or* would appreciate a free sample. Maybe it'll happen, just not holding my breath...I have an oil change coming up in a few weeks. Would rather use an in-spec oil, but I have some SynPower Racing to try.
