Considering that Ultra's 5w-20 Pour Point (-51C) is significantly lower then Platinum 0w-20 (-42) I think an Ultra 0w-20 would be crazy.

Low temperature Pour Point in PU's Ultra line-up is at -51* while the PP Platinum is at -42*.

This tells me that PU likely uses more pure PAO or Group IV / V basestocks in their oil than PP (which MIGHT be saving money with Group III that doesn't flow as well).

or pour point depressants... or GTL group III+

not quite that cut and dry.

also pour point doesnt mean much.

15w40 can have a PP of -36c... wouldnt use it anywhere near that.

low temp.MRV is much more important

Bought some on clearence at our WalMart a couple days ago for $5 a qt.

Don't tell my wife that I bought "more oil"!

^ Same there too. While there is an ACEA A1/B1-10 approval for a PU 0w20, we do not see a 0w20 mentioned in the data sheet breakdown.

It would appear that a PU 0w20 was considered, but ultimately never offered.
