At least one. Me. I just sent a 10000+ sample on my 4.6 Ford engine...manual says change every 5000 miles if you are not using it in severe conditions. It was nearly perfect at 7500 miles, I'm betting it will still be great at 10000 miles.

Also go 10,000 miles in two Subarus with Platinum. Boring UOA's. It's a very good oil, especially when you can buy it for the same price or lower than "regular" oil. I always watch for the sales, and keep stocked up...

I am trying like crazy to search for this answer, please forgive me if I am asking the same question (no doubt it's been answered but I'm new and trying to find it) but does Platinum have the parafin in it? ...or whatever that waxy [censored] is that is in the petro version of Pennsoil?

I just ran it for 5000 miles in the CR-V and it looked like new pouring out of the crank case. I put its sister, Quaker Torque 4X4 in, will run it for 7500 miles and see how it performs.

Now, now... be nice! pdxyota asked for forgiveness before he asked his question. Let's just be grateful he found BITOG and will have all of those nasty urban myths purged from his brain. Imagine how boring the world would be if we were all oil experts!

pdxyota,

I am always amazed when people say they change their oil and it looks like new...no matter what I use it is totally black even after 3k miles.

John,

Have you tried an Amsoil EAO filter?

Retired Pennzoil Member "Johhny" said at one time that Pennzoil Platnium was a Shell Helix base oil and Quaker State Torque, RPM, and the like with a Korean group III base oil.

Ok, I better fix my mistakes....Retired Pennzoil BITOG member "Johnny" said at one time that Pennzoil Platnium was a Shell Helix base oil and Quaker State Torque, RPM, HorsePower, etc was a Korean group III base oil!

BTW-5 qts of PP 5w-30 and a fram tough guard filter for $19.99 @ autozones, YMMV. Cant beat that with a stick, IMHO. Even if you dont like the filter toss it and the oil is still cheap.
