PBR/Axxis offers three different grades of pads: Deluxe Plus (organic), Metal Masters (Semi-Metallic), Ultimate (Aggressive "performance" ceramic).

Has anyone used any of these pads in their vehicles? Any noise complaints? How's the pad life?

Price is about the same so I'm tempted to take a look at them.

Thanks.

The Deluxe are kind of weak. Very quiet but not much stopping power. Wouldnt use them in the fronts. Had them in the back worked ok. Had the Metal Masters on my rears with the Ultimates on the front. That is the combo that I have been using for the last couple of years. I have used the PBR brand and the Axxis. The Axxis Ultimates are probably the best and quietest street pads available. Hawks give more stopping power but are noiser and eat the rotors.

I rather liked the Deluxe Plus on my BMW MCoupe.
It was quiet, no dust @ all, & for the street it was more than good.

the Ultimates dust a bit more but grab like hungry dogs.
However, you kinda fade them out @ the track after several laps.

AS far as brake life goes, it all depends on the driver 50% of the time anyhow.
There is no unually short life if that's what you mean.

I just noticed something guys. Is there a difference between PBR and Axxis? When I went to look for pads, I notice that some sites sell the PBR version of the Metal Masters and other sites sell the Axxis version. Part #s are different. Axxis has a Metal Master fitment for my rears (92 Toyota Previa) whereas PBR has a fitment for my fronts under the Ultimate brand, but Axxis doesn't. What's the story?

Both are made by same Australian company:

Australian technology exported world wide. PBR make calipers for Chevrolet Corvettes in partucular Z06 known for it's sensatonal braking performance, Cadillac XLR, Ford Mustang Cobra, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Suburban among others. Also used by Toyota. PBR are an amazing company IMO.

I have the Axxis Deluxe plus for my 330ci. I'm way overdue on changing my snow tires over to the summers, and at the same time I'll be installing these pads front and rear.

tripleM's comments are encouraging. I bought them because I was spending so much time cleaning the black brake dust off my rims. Hopefully these pads will offer OEM equivalent performance with no dust.

I have used 4-5 sets of PBR/Axxis (formerly Repco) Deluxe pads on my cars over the years, and I look forward to trying the Deluxe Plus again when my CL-S needs pads. Good cold stopping, no noise, low dust, easy on rotors. Choose the right one for your application: I accept that I need good cold stopping more than high temp performance.

Tosh, one of the things ppl have noticed is on cold AM, the Deluxe need time to warm up (a couple of applications) before any hard stopping.

I have never noticed this.

On the Audis. I did not think they would be good based on the poor rep of Metal Masters, but I got a set from my BOSCH mechanic, who stocks them as an alternative to oem (which he must use on whiny customers cars in case they have a squeal issue) but I was floored by them. I think I got another set too, but they have developed a really good following on AudiWorld too. I still have new oem on the RSX, but would look at Axxis Ultimate 1st as replacement. The CRV needs brakes, I might just use cheap AZ pads and leave the old rotors on.

I have a set of the Deluxe on the rear of my Passat, along with ATE plain faced rotors. Superior to OEM in every area IMO, stop better, wear better, and way less dust.

Critical Thinker says: How does one separately evaluate the performance of rear pads only?

What rotors are you guys using with the Axxis Metal Master or Deluxe pads? I have to do the brakes on my 96 Infiniti G20 and these looks like a good alternative to the OEM pads since they are cheaper and are "reported" to stop better.

My only quandry now is what rotor to get? Stick with the $15-25ea Raybestos or go ahead and dump the cash on something like Brembo blanks from Tirerack or other online retailers for $35-45ea? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Choosing the correct brake pad depends on several factors to include type of car and how the car is driven. A family sedan or minivan will use a different pad compound than a BMW M Coupe or a Subaru STi. A city driven car will use a different pad than a freeway driver.
I've used both the Axxis Deluxe and MetalMaster on a 1999 Nissan Maxima, auto tranny, city driver and they were both subpar. Deluxe fronts wore out in less than 20,000 miles and the MetalMasters were noisy and very grabby. Finally installed Performance Friction Carbon Metallic Z-Rated pads and am happy. They are very linear in their stopping pressure, very little brake dust, and so far (5000 miles) they are wearing well. I also installed the PF Z-Rated pads in my BMW M Coupe that sees mostly spirited driving on the road and the track. For heavy-duty track events I use PF-01 front and PF-97 rear.
