parking lot idiots

This is a stressful topic for me as well. And here's how I got punished (although not reformed) for being so anal. I've always been really careful about where I park, because I know some arsewipe is going to violate my car, no matter how I park. But the biggest dent in my beautiful car came from the wind grabbing my door as I opened it while refueling. It's on the driver's door of course, and it's the first and last thing I see when I look at the car. I suppose when the dents add up to a handful, I'll rent the paintless dent masseur and have them all done at once. You just can't have anything nice. But keeping it well-waxed will minimize abrasions.

Reminds me of the time we went to the grocery store a little while back.... guy parked too close, then the guy popped out of that brand new ford explorer, hit the door, then hit the mirror walking towards the store.....long story short, he had a big ding in his door himself after they went in... a couple, or four....

JHZR2 - totally, that stuff is crazy....of all the places to park! irritating.... other things i find irritating are being in some large store (walmart for example) and sitting in some aisle where no one goes, like the aisle with screws and nails.... and some lady walks by the aisle, looks in and just HAS to go down it cause you are in it... doesn't want anything, just wants to go through... knows full well theres nothing there they want...

also this one time my g/f, sister in law, and brother in law went to little caesars pizza to get a couple $5 hot-n-ready pizza's (about 9pm) to chow on, everything in the strip mall is closed but little caesars....theres 3 big parking lots, and the middle one goes nowhere but to the main street.... what do we do? we go to the middle on since it's unlit (the other 2 are lit up bigtime) and chow down.... other people drive in to get some pizza, but what do they do? you guessed it.... they HAVE to come in, go to the middle lot, turn right...and go past us REAL slow to see what we're doing, then go to the end, make a u-turn to get to little caesars..... EVERYONE did that.... *** ? i'm flattered that i was so important but come on

lol!!! I guess Im glad Im not so important

I broke down and bought a new-to-me used car to replace the other that I was starting to pay higher prices for parts, and of which were becoming less readily availible, not to mention the worry at to if I would make it to my destination. Anyway, as for my income, it was a hard earned investment outside of previous college expenses...so yes this vehicle represented more than just a-b transportation.

Like many, parking far from the enterance at my retail place of employment hoping to avoid any problems, I venture out one evening and it was pointed out to me by a co-worker as we approached our vehicles, that a shopping cart had damaged the tailgate of my car. Either this was a cart on a suicide mission (angled parking lot, why to such a degree is beyond me and just plain poor planning), or someone drove into it, and thus into the back of my car. The basket was convienently higher than the cars molded plastic bumber, so it just went slamming off-angle into the sheetmetal. And yes, no note.

Thankfully the paint wasn't damged outside of a few fine web lines where the metal had been creased/stretched. I saved the cost of repair by bumping the dent out as well as I could, about 3/4-1 inch at it's deepest, and about the overall size of a melon, leaving slight crease deformation at it's most vertical dimension or so. I waxed it and later strategically placed a decal of other meaning about it.

Because I was parking in what the company deemed "associate parking", I though they might cover the damage...not so as they don't own the parking lot!

Other more minor damages have occurred since, but I have been more able to acknowledge the fact that it all hasn't come to defeat the purpose of the vehicle, nor to effect the way it operates. The interior still looks nice and is comfortible. I still take efforts of prevention through all the work I put it through (hauling, towing, etc.), but I have through many painful personal experiences (probably all that I have set myself up for in the past, most unknowingly), that I/we have limits.

This is all troublesome, but I don't think revenge is the answer (though emotionally it's most immediately gratifying).

to here the upset.

On the other side of the ding (in parking lot philosophy would that be the dong :^) some people ask for worse. I can remember people in San Diego parking their Porsches up close in a very busy lot, deliberately taking two spots. One long key mark would probably invite others.

of all the places that he could hape parked, which would have been closer, more convenient, etc., he had to park at the end spot connected to mine, and over the deviding line... ugh.

What did you expect

? You had been prepared out of fear. Naturally that fear was going to be realized.

What happens if you drop your keys on a 10,000 square foot garage floor? Does it just lay there for you to pick up?? No. It finds the 3^" drain ..the totally obscure location that defies detection.

Every time I've ever said "Nah ..the odds of that happening are too high ..I don't have to worry" ..that's the sure fired way to have it happen.

Now if I could just get that method to work for the lottery numbers.....
